Those are spectacular photos, but tragic ones. Thanks for posting them.
We lost that war. I was there when Saigon was evacuated, our tails between our legs.
Pyrotechnics don’t win wars. Technology doesn’t win wars. Body counts don’t win wars. Winning battles doesn’t even win wars.
We won WWII - none since. We’re losing our current one(s). That’s the jist of it.
First, thank you for service. But I think you, like others here, are too cynical on this issue. We no more lost the Korean War than the War of 1812, both of which simply ensured the status quo ante. Most wars do not end with unconditional surrender and occupation of the enemy's nation like WWII.
I would go so far as to say we did not lose Vietnam. In that case, Democrats in the government made a conscious decision to abandon an ally after the preservation of the allied regime was secured by hard fought efforts of the armed forces.
Never forget there are MORE with you than against you. God Bless.
You did not lose that war. The Democrats conspired with their communist allies and they betrayed us and you.
Beware the enemy within.
I was there too, ‘66-67’ when US troop morale was still high. Unfortunately,I’m convinced that, as what happened in ‘Nam will repeat in Afghanistan.
The NVA and the VC were driven by their ideology and dedication to their cause and defeated a US backed military that was led by corrupt officers and a corrupt government.
I see a repeat of this in Afghanistan.
We must remember never to get involved in a war unless we choose to win it.
Democrats cut off virtually all military aid and gave the go ahead to take SVN.
Sorta like what commander zero is doing in Afcrapistan and Iraq. Surrender after victory.
