Former U.S. National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden will fly from Moscow to Cuba on Monday and then plans to go to Venezuela, a source at the Russian airline Aeroflot said on Sunday.
The source said Snowden was already on his way to Moscow from Hong Kong and would leave for Havana within 24 hours.
The South China Morning Post also reported that Snowden had left Hong Kong for Moscow and that his final destination might be Ecuador or Iceland. The WikiLeaks anti-secrecy website said Snowden was heading for an unnamed "democratic nation".
The flight to Moscow prompted speculation that Snowden might remain in Russia, whose leaders accuse the United States of double standards on democracy and have championed public figures who challenge Western governments.
But Putin's spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, said he was unaware of Snowden's plans and the Foreign Ministry declined immediate comment on whether he had asked for asylum.

Yes they can guess there are attempts at just about anything, but GIVING SPECIFICS such as how US hacks or exactly what it hacked gives them a boost!
“Well, you obviously havent flown on one of those Asian airlines with their gorgeous stewardesses!”
Yes, he has not flown on Singapore Airlines! That is a given! ;-)
This shows that he’s heading to Equador, but who knows what’s accurate anymore. I’m sure he’s elated that all these “leaks” are coming out about him. :)
“WikiLeaks said he was being accompanied by Sarah Harrison, described by them as a UK citizen, journalist and legal researcher.”
“Russia’s Itar-Tass news agency said there is a flight ticket in his name from Moscow to Cuba and that he will then fly on from there. It said that his flight to Havana from Moscow would take place on Monday.”
I understand now that you are a fan of this ideology and its current heartthrob, Edward Snowden.
“I have to agree. If you hold a clearance, you are sworn to protect sources and methods.”
That is true enough. However, a case where U.S.A. law was broken by the people who the whistleblowers were trying to expose has never been tried successfully in a court-of-law.
It is still a grey area and in my opinion the government does not want to see a case settled in a court-of-law.
Reference: Daniel Ellsberg. His case was thrown out of court because of government misconduct.
That was then, this is now. Perhaps he knows who /what country will take the risks this time around.
I’m definitely a fan of the Constitution and ALL the Amendments...
No, was not OK with that at the time.
Even though they were vicious Muslim terrorists who had just killed an American citizen and were on their way to freedom in Egypt?
“but humiliating the US before the entire world with its insubordination.”
Insubordination? I do believe that HK is part of Communist China! ;-)
“Nah. He’s on administrative leave”
You forgot the “with-full-pay” part! ROFL
The usurper does NOT want this guy anywhere near a tv camera. Y'all have been bamboozled again. As if that's his real flight plan, ha. No way.
If USA does not have to respect the law, no one else will have to give us a break.
Similar argument on “torture”. We should not do it or they will do it to our troops. They probably will do it anyway, always have, always will.
It is best and moral to take the lawful, higher road, not get down in the gutter with the scum.
Vigilanteism is not a sound USA foreign policy.
He probably has half a dozen tickets from all over the world in his name but that doesn’t mean he is using any of them.
You are not alone. I feel that way too. I believe in the true American dream, freedom. The freedoms enumerated in our treasured founding documents.
There should be none of this ubercontrol in our “government by the people. “ There should be no calls of traitor to anyone no matter how sleazy who tells the Owners of this Country — us, people, us! — that there is wrong doing in this government.
I don’t care what country the guy goes to.i don’t care much about him. But I appreciate knowing what our government has been doing TO US. We never voted for this. And the politicians in congress are mostly literally in there to get power and money for themselves; they are not representing us. That is partly just human nature. But the founders would have wanted us to keep working toward true representative government, and as much freedom as we can achieve without impinging on the freedoms of others.
Independence Day approaches, and I don’t know any more if the country I love exists, and if I even should be celebrating this country with such a totalitarian oligarchy as it now stands.
Exactly. Either he knows something big or this chase is nothing but a distraction of another big something. Hey, he's taken the focus off the other scandals so who knows.
So. If he stayed put...what would the outcome be?
Yes, I too have been giggling over the Snowden Global Tour or Around the World in 80 hours tour.
Here’s what we know so far:
1) We don’t have a clue where he is.
2) if he had dirt the Chinese wanted then a) we probably would have never learned his name and b) he would not have escaped China
3) He’s gotta have some serious dirt on something - and what ever that is, we’re not being told about it.
4) The moment he got to Russia, any thing else we’re hearing is mere rumor and conjecture.
For all we know, this dude could be in Detroit. All I know is whatever happens, I want the movie rights. Pass the popcorn.
Yeah, that is why the Chinese let him leave.
Snowdens plans never consisted of staying put..so it’s a non issue.
Thank you! Amazed that so many here are blindly following the words of a government that only a few weeks ago proved untrustworthy. Snowden provided a public service. When will the politicians who approved this and the people who implemented this illegal spying on Americans see jail?
That hypothetical question was in response to to a hypothetical statement about his moving around
Re: money talks
that is why the 25 million bounty on OBL worked/s
To determine who has Snowdens wheel...because he sure isn’t driving....look at who has front page and funding this...Assange and Wikileaks.
As for his girl-friend...He won’t be the first who hooks up with a pole dancer while he awaits his orders...then drops her in the gutter on the way out.
No replies. Not surprised.
So you think govt should be able to break the laws and spy on Americans. Unbelievable.
is this DU or FR?
Decent tradecraft would have him asking for asylum from lots of red herring false destinations.
I too am rooting for Snowden. Sunlight is the best disinfectant.
Spot on post.
The “Big”..will be once Assange gets access to Snowdens documents and he plays the cards...not Snowden..if he doesn’t already have some already...You “pay to Play” in Assanges court.
Sure, which polls? And how often can they vote? Kinda like our elections, lol Cause they didnt include me in the poll!
“is this DU or FR?”
I almost forgot about those creatures, but I just went there to see what their feelings were after you mentioned them. The discussion I read was very much the same as here...mixed feelings.
The Obama administration, the Obama State dept, the Obama Justice dept, the Obama DHL, the Obama NSA.....etc are the traitors. Wake up there has been a coup d’etat....there is a war being fought for our freedoms and we are losing. Of course they are going to discredit and demonize Snowden and some if you are lining up with the left who are busy at work demonizing him as they busily work at removing our efforts to expose their coup d’etat. Don’t give up the last of your freedoms to these bastards.
That's how it's done in the USSA. Someone's unpopular, they find a crime to stick them with and bask in the glory of the mob.
That's how we got Reno, Giuliani, Spitzer ... well, they all do it now. Wouldn't be shocked if Paula Deen gets charged soon.
Does he have Matt Lauer or Carmen Sandiego or Yoko Ono or Mike and Mel White with him?
They sure got to FNC: their implicit line is he’s a traitor.
Must be why only 23% of people trust the media. And its probably lower than that
The latest Pew Foundation poll found that 54% of Americans want Snowden to be criminally prosecuted but the younger the person polled was the more likely they were to view him as a hero. 60% of 18-29 year olds see Snowden as having performed a positive public service. Both Tea Party members and folks identifying as liberals view Snowden positively.
So am I correct in understanding he’s in the air right now, maybe 1/4 of the way to Havana?
He seems to have a thing for commie countries at this point...
Im not a crowd follower. My views are not swayed by polls which has been proven to be rogged Im a law abiding citizen. And a believer in freedom
Rogged = rigged
I think he is OUR spy..if so, a great storyline and very clever.
