What choice did he have? Could he rely on the Constitution to protect his whistle-blowing. Would Citizenship prevent water-boarding, secret courts and offer a right to fair hearing.

Nah. He's on administrative leave

He’s an Obama voter (although he leaked because he is miffed about Obama breaking some election promises).

He may get an audit and thrown under the bus yet!

I have a theory. I do not believe it is a coincidence what happened with the NSA leaks. First the Justice Department, then the IRS, then the drones and now this?

No, this was done intentionally to remind Americans how far it is willing to go to ensure no one rises up against the government.

I am thinking about the same. The timing of Snowden is all to convenient. His hot girl-friend, his Hollywood type interview.

I of the mind that Snowden is somehow working for Obamas team. Of course, that still makes him a traitor (along with most in this administration)

Snowden’s revealing Obama led corruption is doing service to our country.
**********
It is giving a view of the TOTALITY of the corruption and growing abuse of power that are threatening our very freedom. And there is still much more we do not know about. We are pretty far down the slippery slope at this point, but not quite yet beyond the point of no return.

How much more evidence is needed before impeachment becomes a serious option?

I don’t believe he’s headed for Venezuala either, unless he was just naïve that he was backed into a corner by whoever is helping him.

If he was a traitor and in in for the money, why would have have gone so public? He could quietly have sold secrrets for years and then faked his own death and moved somewhere else if he thought he’d been caught. The fact that he went public with his own name causes me to still believe he was just trying to call attention to what our government was doing to us (and what was really no secret except to low info voters in all countries).

I too believe and hope that Venezuela is just another disinformatijon story, and we’ll hear from him in some other country completely.I’m guessing Ecuador.

My theory that I think is least probable, but still possible, as as someone else said, he is actually a plant working for Obama to basically tell Americans “Big Brother is watching you” (especially any Senators/Congressmen who don’t already know) and to show Americans how powerful Obama is already, and to strike more intimidation into us.
I don’t really believe that though. Just the way he went all about this I think he really is trying to bring this who mess to the attention of the world at great risk to himself.

< Nice post. I think Snowjob may even be a plant. Start sowing the ground now so when deeper stuff comes out they can say its old news. Of course I dont believe anything I am told by the USSA media and wickedness rules right now so I suspect Ed is not what he says he is one way of the other. >

This is what I’m thinking. What better “flexibility” is there than to find some stooge who wants to play ‘Double-Agent,’ and then use him to sell national secrets to China, Russia, Cuba, and every Communist country in between? Promise him whatever he wants, then eliminate him after his treasonous job is complete. Obama gets to play Hero when Snowman is captured (”Oops, he accidentally fell from the plane, i swear.”). Bin Laden Part II.

If he were truly noble. He would not go to a country that is a sworn enemy of the United States like Venezuela. He would have went to a neutral country like Iceland. If the story is true that he is going there our government should terminate him with extreme prejudice. After we have secured the laptops of course...

I too tend to suspect it is actually disinfo and they have a different route and destination planned out.

Why would Ecuadorians be at the Moscow airport for him, then, instead of Venezuelans?

FSB in Moscow could be cooperating in such a disinfo game and order Aeroflot to give a false flight route, just to throw the Yanks off and (help) get the guy to safe haven in Iceland or Ecuador........

It is possible that there are groups and coalitions within different intelligence communities that have varying opinions of our swift move toward a totalitarian dictatorship. There may be those who are loyal to “The Powers” in office, no matter who is there, and will willingly do whatever they are told.

There may be others who are loyal to the “Old America” within CIA who are aiding him to get asylum in a neutral country and who assisted him to help pull the shroud of secrecy off of this communist, criminal government coup that has happened in front of our eyes.

In the scenario where he’s a plant, obama and his handlers wouldn’t necessarily inform Congress of that fact. This would explain why many of them are apoplectic in their denouncement of Snowden as Evil Incarnate when they can get TV face time. LOL... I can just see how that super-secret Congressional briefing would have gone down:

“Ladies and Gentlemen, I’m afraid it’s bad. Real bad. Snowdon had the ability to record anything and everything he so desired, and our preliminary investigation indicates that NONE of us is safe. He has been recording everything, and every day we find more. If you’ve done something you wouldn’t want public, he may have proof of it.”

What a perverse pleasure I’m feeling right now.

I realize I'm nitpicking here, but the House impeaches presidents like Bill Clinton. Not that I'd give anyone in the House the slightest benefit of the doubt that they'd impeach the pres(id)ent.

As for Snowden, I can't manage to care overly much about him. If he was a ‘whistleblower’, he could simply have walked to an ACLU office, called the local paper, and been on Fox and Friends by the next day, with the worst possible punishment he'd be facing would be an extended vacation at ClubFed.

Instead, weeks later he's turning up in Hong Kong exposing US surveillance? Just strikes me as an attempt to exit stage left with a big bag of cash that went horribly wrong, and there weren't any NSA or Chinese buyers for his information. He figured he had about a month to sell it, then get down low, and time ran out.

And in the aftermath, both parties want us to look at Snowden and not the actions of Congress in authorizing these wholesale actions against liberty and privacy, in the name of ‘the war on terrorism.’

On the side of strict protection of privacy are people like Sens. Lee and Rand Paul (R-Ky.), along with those Democratic senators. They are joined by conservative media titans Rush Limbaugh, Bill O’Reilly, and Matt Drudge, and liberal figures like filmmaker Michael Moore and Glenn Greenwald, who has broken many of the stories relating to the leaks.

In the other corner defending surveillance practices is President Barack Obama, who has shifted his stance as president. He has been joined by House Speaker John Boehner, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, and Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), the chairwoman of the Senate Intelligence Committee. Also in this camp are influential media voices like the left-leaning Time magazine’s Joe Klein and The New Yorker’s Jeffrey Toobin, as well as conservative media figures like Charles Krauthammer.
