Deen Employees Tell Rainbow/PUSH of Alleged Discrimination (Jesse J Shakedown Time!)
Atlantsa Journal Constitution ^ | 6:41 p.m. Sunday, June 23, 2013

An attorney for the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition said current and former Paula Deen employees told him the famous cook and her brother discriminated against black employees, one of whom was consistently referred to as “my little monkey.”

After Deen acknowledged using a racial slur, the story went viral and the Food Network announced on Friday that it would not renew her contract when it expires at the end of June.

Deen and her brother, Bubba Hiers, are being sued by Lisa T. Jackson, a former employee who claims she endured a hostile work environment replete with racial slurs.

Robert Patillo, an attorney for Rainbow/PUSH, a civil rights group founded by the Rev. Jesse Jackson, Sr., said one current and two former employees told him white employees are routinely paid more than black employees and are promoted more quickly. A black man who had threatened to go to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission said Deen’s brother told him “you don’t have any civil rights here,” Rainbow/PUSH said in a press release.

Rainbow/PUSH said it has “found evidence of systemic racial discimination and harassment” by Deen and that “a family member consistently referred to a black cook as ‘my little monkey.’”

Patillo, who conducted interviews in Savannah where Deen’s restaurant is located, said current and former employees told him that Deen “preferred white and light-skinned blacks to work with customers” and that darker-skinned blacks were relegated to “back-of-the-house operations.”

She should have known. Howard Cosell's career crashed and burned after referring to a quick, diminutive black athlete racing down the sidelines as "look at that little monkey run!"

If she had known her business (media, not cooking) she would have known better than to step on the third rail.

She was so humiliated and abused...she worked at "Bubba's" for 5 years!

Paula's biggest problem is her "Bubba."

Paula has a mouth and obviously has not been to charm school. LOL!

Lisa Jackson’s attorney has made a huge mistake making all of the charges public before the trial and getting Paul fired from the Food Network. They needed her still working in order to get a big settlement.
Now they have to hope they get a very sympathetic jury, which may not be easy, because this lawsuit is the result of being told “NO” to her original demand for hush money. And after destroying Deen’s career the woman has no prayer of an out of court settlement.
If I were Deen I would sue the attorney for revealing the contents of the deposition.

Screw Paula Dean. As far as I’m concerned, she deserves what she is getting.

However. One of these days someone is gonna say “screw all of you. I’ve made enough money and ya’ll can all go to hell”.

(smh) Paula, Paula, Paula. Please, girl. Don’t you know the correct answer to any deposition question is, “I don’t recall”?

Or better yet, “What difference does it make”?

She dissed the first wookie.”

I remember hearing about this on the news right after it happened. My first thought was that Moochelle would get her for that. Took her longer than I expected but she has been busy with planning her Million dollar trips and all.

Regarding Paula needs to keep working to pay the settlement, it was on the news that she earned $14 million last year. If that gets out, she’ll be lucky if half the population of Georgia isn’t “offended” by her use of the word. I’ll bet the line is already forming to sue her. There’s probably a greaseball law firm ad on Georgia TV “Been offended by Paula Deen? Call our law firm ‘Herbucks Wilbe Yers” so we can advise you on how offended you are”

Deen is now making zero money. Will Jesse guarantee her she’ll get back in the money if she pays him his extortion fees? Otherwise, why should she care?

I wish she’d come out and say “Hell, yeah, I said it. And I’m gonna’ say it again if you don’t get off my big, fat, white ass!”

Rev. Jesse Jackson referred to Jews as “Hymies” and to New York City as “Hymietown” in January 1984 during a conversation with a black Washington Post reporter, Milton Coleman. Jackson had assumed the references would not be printed because of his racial bond with Coleman, but several weeks later Coleman permitted the slurs to be included far down in an article by another Post reporter on Jackson’s rocky relations with American Jews.

A storm of protest erupted, and Jackson at first denied the remarks, then accused Jews of conspiring to defeat him. The Nation of Islam’s radical leader Louis Farrakhan, an aggressive anti-Semite and old Jackson ally, made a difficult situation worse by threatening Coleman in a radio broadcast and issuing a public warning to Jews, made in Jackson’s presence: “If you harm this brother [Jackson], it will be the last one you harm.”

Finally, Jackson doused the fires in late February with an emotional speech admitting guilt and seeking atonement before national Jewish leaders in a Manchester, New Hampshire synagogue. Yet Jackson refused to denounce Farrakhan, and lingering, deeply rooted suspicions have led to an enduring split between Jackson and many Jews. The frenzy also heightened tensions between Jackson and the mostly white establishment press.

I read the complaint. If a lot of it’s true the behavior is indefensible in moddern society.
