Millenials Rejecting DemocRATS Due To Spying
Chriss Street and Co. ^ | June 25, 2013 | Chriss W. Street

The revelations by former National Security Agency operative Edward Snowden that the United States government has been spying on all Americans may be causing a permanent political shift by the American “Millennial” generation (youth born between 1980 and the year 2000) away from President Barack Obama and the Democratic Party. Contrary to the main-stream-media’s claims that “Millennials don’t worry about online privacy,” research demonstrates young people are extremely sensitive about who has access and can engage in mischief with their digital lives. As Snowden’s spying disclosures continue, the blow-back against Obama and the Democratic Party is alienating this future dominant voting bloc.

Well, this aligns with the natural direction of party affiliation, as the millenials get “mugged”.

Wait until they find out how much it’s going to cost to recharge their “smart” phones once the Kenyan gets his new “global warming” scam regulations in place.

I think this is probably true. Certainly a lot of people are sloppy with facebook, and allow too much information to slip out -- but that is an implementation error. I believe the thinking is: "Facebook has privacy settings. I may not use them well. I may not understand them. But, theoretically, I have control over what other people know about me. I can "friend" who I want, and keep out the people I don't like."

And when the truth dawns that there are people you just can't keep out no matter how hard you try, I think these people feel real betrayal. "Hey, that breaks the rules! It's not supposed to be that way! I'm supposed to have control over my stuff!"

That, coupled with a poor economy for young people with entry-level job skills ought to make young folks ripe for the Conservative message. If only we had a political party that wanted to sell such a message. Sigh.

On reading this, the GOP Leadership commented: "Hunh? Who? Whatza Mellenial?"

Then, they snorted a few times, rolled over, and went back to sleep.

I don't know who said this, but some philosophical person said, "It doesn't matter how many people don't know something. It only matters how many do."

You have your marching orders. Do everything you can to inform your friends. Increase your sphere of influence.

How true.

A golden chance to re-explain the promise of America's freedom, as its champion, to a generation who has never heard of it.

A chance to point out how the American traditions the GOP is supposed to support have been distorted and abused by the left....and nothing.

Millenials are captive—as long as they walk with their heads down, the government has them buy their thumbs.

True, if presented with a binary choice.

But if someone along the lines of Ralph Nader jumps in and makes the surveillance a core issue ...

Perhaps. If we just sit back and let it happen. We still have 3 years to do whatever we can to get as many as them informed and involved as possible.

We are not potted plants. God gave us a brain and a voice for a reason.

That's why it is up to us to inform as many of them as possible and do whatever we can to get them to change their way of thinking. We are not powerless. You have more influence than you think.

Just think back to your youth. How many things did your parents tell you that you dismissed back then as fuddy-duddyism but now you see as obvious.

those concerned with privacy will far more likely go with some form of libertarianism than with the republicrats who are busy sounding just like the democrats in their defense of the NSA snooping on us all.

The millenials aren’t about the gimmedats as much as they are about the “I’m a good and superior person because I’m a ‘progressive’”.

Simply put, they’re in it for the idealism.

This is why the voting age should be 25.

Sadly you're 100% correct. Throw in a rock star VP like DeVal Patrick and let the youts march in lockstep.
