Fight Against Secularism Unites Jews, Catholics, Pope Says

VATICAN CITY — Christians and Jews can work together to challenge the contemporary problems of secularism and disrespect for the human person, Pope Francis told representatives of Judaism in a Vatican audience.

“Humanity needs our joint witness in favor of respect for the dignity of man and woman created in the image and likeness of God and in favor of peace, which is, above all, God’s gift,” the Bishop of Rome told members of the International Jewish Committee for Interreligious Consultations June 24.

“Friendly relations are, in a way, the basis for the development of a more official dialogue,” he added.

The audience with the Jewish leaders was also attended by Cardinal Kurt Koch, who is president of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, as well as head of the Vatican’s Commission for Religious Relations With the Jews and members of that office.

The committee has held 21 meetings with Catholics so far, and Pope Francis said this has “certainly helped to reinforce mutual understanding and the links of friendship” between them.

Upper Room on Mt. Zion To Open for Catholic Worship (PRWEB) June 18, 2013

"Negotiations between the Vatican and Israel began 20 years ago with a “Fundamental Agreement” designed to open the way to Vatican recognition of Israel. Negotiations halted for several years until the United States intervened and talks were resumed in 2004, Vasko said. The current round of talks is the first to be held in two years.

In addition to the Cenacle, other key elements of the negotiations include two churches the Vatican wants to build, and tax exempt status for Catholic Churches. The recent agreement approves tax-exempt status for the churches but specifies that attached buildings such as gift shops and restaurants will be subject to Israeli sales tax."

"Negotiations will continue in December, according to the joint announcement."

Jews tell pope of concern over moves to make Pius XII a saint
ReutersBy Philip Pullella | Reuters – Mon, Jun 24, 2013

" Jews have asked that the process, still in its early stages, that could eventually make Pius a saint be frozen until after all the Vatican's wartime archives have been opened and studied by scholars. The bulk is expected to be released next year."

At Monday's meeting, the first between the pope and an international Jewish organization since his election in March, Francis did not mention Pius but when he was archbishop of Buenos Aires he expressed support for opening Vatican archives.

And so did Pope Emeritus XVI.

Sure it does. That's why the obama administration classifies American Catholics as "terrorists" and stonewalls Jewish organizations' tax-exemption applications.

You have found the problem! Dear Leader has salted his administration with terrorists.

“Before he was a devoted husband and father, or a U.S. Senator, or a presidential candidate of historic accomplishments, Barack Obama took a job working as a community organizer for a group of eight Catholic parishes in one of the nation’s largest cities. With funding from the U.S. Bishops and working for three years out of an office in a Catholic church rectory, he embarked on a campaign to empower the lives of thousands of people who were suffering through economic circumstances not unlike what has befallen our country today.”

Notice that unlike one of his very long tenured predecessors he did NOT refer to the “Abrahamic faiths”.

Guess which one was excluded!
