KEVIN Rudd will challenge Julia Gillard for the Labor leadership tomorrow morning.
A petition for a ballot circulated among Labor MPs is believed to now have the required numbers for a spill of the PM.

What’s Kevin Rudd like, compared to Gillard?
He’s a narcissistic, egomaniacal, bad tempered control freak who originally started us on the road to ruin which Gillard is so assiduously following.
The only bright note is that an election is due in September but Gillard is doing her best to cram every last bit destructive legislation through before parliament rises at the end of this week.
I’m in two minds about this challenge. I can’t stand the sight of Gillard but am concerned that Rudd is enough of a conman to once again inveigle some people to vote for him. He won’t win, thank goodness, but I want them to be well and truly thrashed.
Too bad neither is any good. Sort of like US politics. Except neither sounds as vile as the ones we got to supposedly vote for in 2012 (or 2008).
Rudd is a leftie in love with himself. He is only outdone in treachery by Gillard, who recruited communists as a youngster.
Gillard was featured in yesterday’s papers. Knitting a kangaroo sweater for the Queen’s expected great granddaughter.
Trying to find an honest, decent human being to run for political office these days is impossible. It’s like that in every country on the planet. Especially in America.
In the September election, Tony Abbott, the leader of the Coalition (of conservative parties) is expected to destroy Gillard. Things are looking so bad for the lefties, that some are trying to bring Rudd back.
Who cares about them, when will AU dump Labor and vote for Abbott?

He is also a UN sucking globalist who thinks it is really cool to speak Chinese and suck up to them too.
I want Gillard to survive by a vote or two so that Labor gets the flogging they richly deserve. There are enough idiots out there who would vote for Labor with KRusty the Clown at the helm that could see them back into power.
I want Federal Labor flogged like NSW Labor or QLD Labor. I want to see them struggle to get enough seats to form a cricket team.
Whitlam was before my time so I can’t say this is the worst government in Australian history (and talking about from Jan 26, 1788 onwards, including Governor Bligh and the Rum Corps in my estimation). If it’s not then it’s a close runner-up.
Naturalman1975, you were about during the horror of Whitlam. Who takes the top spot? Whitlam’s Labor or Rudd/Gillard Labor?
Currently the Federal Election is scheduled for 14th September 2013. The current Prime Minister, Julia Gillard, chose that date earlier this year but it could change. The latest date an election can be held constitutionally is 30th November 2013. Events over the next day or so may lead, under particular circumstances to one taking place earlier.
For all his faults (and they were many), Whitlam was a patriot who was dedicated to doing what he believed (rightly or wrongly - in my view often wrongly) was best for his country, not just what was best for his party. He gets a lot of respect from me for that. He also went out there and got things done - again, I might not agree with all of those things but he was a leader and was ready to lead. He also always treated the Services with respect (perhaps partly because of his service as an RAAF officer during the Second World War) which in the 1970s in the aftermath of Vietnam was a somewhat controversial position for a Labor politician. For those reasons, I'd put him ahead of Gillard and Rudd.
I also believe that he did this nation a tremendous service on November 11 1975 when, despite disagreeing with it, he accepted the decision of the Governor General and called upon his supporters to express their opinions at the ballot box under the rule of law, rather than through violence. We were quite seriously concerned at the risk of civil unrest and he had the self control and enough respect for the Constitution to do the right thing. He was a lousy Prime Minister - but he was a credit to that office in the way he left it. Constitutionally.
Payback time
The first Whitlam ministry 2 to 19 December was half decent.
After that he brought in, among others, Lionel Murphy (Australian most corrupt Senator, later most corrupt High Court Judge) and wiseguy Al Grassby (who gave Australia multiculturalism and the Calibrain Mafia)
