A bill that opponents claimed would virtually ban abortion in Texas failed to pass late Tuesday after lawmakers missed a deadline by just minutes.
There were chaotic scenes after a filibuster attempt fell just short and protesters cheered, clapped and shouted for the final 15 minutes as lawmakers tried to hold the vote before the session ended at midnight.
The filibuster by Sen. Wendy Davis, D-Fort Worth, lasted more than 10 hours but ended after three challenges to her speech were upheld.

Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, acting as Senate president, initially said the voting began just before midnight, NBCDFW.com reported, and several reports suggested that the bill had been passed and would go to Gov. Rick Perry. But Dewhurst later announced that the vote had been held too late.

Democrats push gun control as Obama said, "if it saves the life of one child," but killing babies is no big deal. "Pro choice" only applies to the mother. The baby has no choice, and its will to live is ignored. Sad.

This was a special session called after the regular legislative session
ended May 27th, 2013. The Gov can call another or as many as he wants if he so desires.

Is that from the Texas Statutes? In the Legislative section? Somehow I can’t see that applying to the the TX legislative gallery rules of decorum.
The Lege’s gallery makes the lawmakers conduct their business in public instead of all the “behind closed doors” crap that happens in D.C. And besides, you can’t beat it for entertainment value.

This news story doesn’t say if the mob was there from the beginning or not. My guess is not. The Dems probably outdid us, once again, on using social media, especially after Obama’s tweet about it.

Yes, that’s from the Texas Penal Code. And, no, there is NO exception for state legislative business. Free speech does NOT include disrupting the legislative session.
The mob included Demonicrat legislators. I watched the proceedings, and the anarchist lawmakers were inciting the mob in their lawbreaking.

If we did this to bring bad legislation to a halt, they would demand we be arrested for terrorism.
