Knife-wielding assailants killed nine policemen and 17 civilians in a bloody attack that only ended after 10 attackers were shot dead in western China early Wednesday.
At least three people were also injured during the early morning assault on the Lukqun Township in Xinjiang province, Chinese state media agency Xinhua reported.
If confirmed, it would be one of the bloodiest incidents in Xinjiang since nearly 200 people were killed in the regional capital, Urumqi, in 2009.

Information that I think is still very relevant today, especially since some think that just because they have a gun on their person they will have the opportunity to use it.
Without adequate situational awareness, and against someone who knows how to use a blade, many people would be surprised at what the outcome would be. Especially since the vast majority of gun owners only practice at the range ...there is little to no high-adrenaline realistic training. Simply firing away at paper targets. In a home invasion scenario a gun is extremely helpful, since there is usually enough time to retrieve it and enough time that one's nerves have settled sufficiently to take cogent action. However, on the street and at close range, one has to have sufficient situational awareness and an ability (either innate or trained) to deal with the rush of adrenaline and loss of fine motor movements that would occur.
Most people do not have that innate ability, and most people who have guns only shoot at the range. Helpful in 99% of possible home invasion incidents, or a mall shooting type of situation, but inadequate against a determined attacker coming to you unexpectedly. One may say that is unlikely to happen, and that may be true, but I believe if you carry a weapon you should anticipate even that which may be unlikely. And honestly, it may not be that unlikely. Maybe not a Filipono waving a balisong on your face, but a home intruder who managed to get close enough without your knowledge, like that lady who got pummeled by some thug in her home. Most violent encounters happen faster, more violently and closer than most people expect, and if all you have is range time you better hope you get a foolish thug.
In many ways I think a lot of gun owners have the same mentality as a lot of martial artists had before the advent of the UFC. Static beliefs that their art will enable them to defend themselves, until they started seeing black belts in Karate getting owned like children by grapplers.
How did I know it was Muslims before even reading the article?

Thx for the post. I’ll look at those vids later.
First there was a knife attack, and after that, 36 people were killed?
Interesting and informative videos. Thanks.
