Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina says that he was disappointed by the Supreme Court's rulings bolstering same-sex marriage, telling Newsmax that the "federal government has the right to define marriage."
"The main thing is that something like marriage and the bedrock of society should be decided by the population through the political process, not by unelected judges," Graham told Newsmax on Wednesday immediately after the Supreme Court ruled against the federal Defense of Marriage Act and California's Proposition 8. "This is an example of where something this fundamental to our society should be left in the hands of the people through their elected representatives."
Graham said, "The federal government has the right to define marriage. The Defense of Marriage Act basically says that one state is not bound by the dictates of another, that when it comes to defining the relationship called marriage, South Carolina can do it one way, California can do it another, and, at the federal level, we would not recognize same-sex couples' benefits."

Ask him where in the Constitution he read this.
Ping!
If we allow polygamy and same sex marriage Graham can be John McCain’s second wife!

2 things.
First, Lindsey Graham you pathetic piece of garbage. The only reason you run as a republican is because you can’t win as the democrat you really are.
Second, this ruling is a wide government overreach and government needs to get the hell out of America’s bedrooms.
they find more and more rights for politicians and the feral government but less and less for “We the People”
Breathtaking hubris.
We already knew this, but it is now abundantly clear that in the mind of the Liberal Elite, Fedzilla has been given the throne of God.
“Lindsey Graham: ‘Federal Government Has Right to Define Marriage’”
Lindsey “Wrong Again” Graham strikes again!
And no, many of us folk in South Carolina don’t want to see him elected again. I’ll be actively campaigning against him.
On the topic of government involvement in marriage, that is exactly what led to the current mess. Marriage is a religious rite. Government NEVER should have been involved in it one way or the other, period. That is a sane application of separation of church and state. If the churches retained the sole power to define marriage, there would be no issue whatsoever.
We’ve always known that leftist secular humanists view government as their god.
And LG is no biblical worldview holding Christian.
Looks like Linda was caught with a live boy...
Did Gen. Sherman hit you people a little TOO hard over the head?
How the hell are you people putting up with this clown?
Ironic that the driving force for marriage “equality” was insurance coverage. Now, companies are doing away with spousal coverage and most will soon probably do away with insurance and dump their employees on Obamacare. It would behoove us to remove all marriage advantages from the tax codes and any other place they exist as that is the leverage used for “equality.”
Incidentally, I read that some of the biggest equality backers are divorce lawyers.
When you apply for a job you are telling your future employer that you have the knowledge and experience to fill the job posting. Here we have elected officials who no NOTHING about the constitution, bill of rights and arrogantly wont read any bill before them for a vote yet they will open thier pie holes and spew thier lies for the masses to consume. Incredible!
Which ‘right,’ Linda?
Point to the language, A-hole.
Is that what we really want? For us to demand that the feds define marriage now is playing with fire. In the DOMA ruling SCOTUS tossed us and unexpected bone and tossed our opposition an unexpected poisoned meatball. Marriage has been thrown back to the states. We should log the customary complaints and take heart.
First, I can’t stand Lindsay.
Second, the government has no rights.
Third, the headline is very misleading: what sissy boi Lindsay said is not as bad as the header here.
Graham now has an emotional wedge issue to draw in conservative religious voters for his re-election next year.
Politicians will say the words people want to hear at election time.
Lindsey dishes out the words while the courts steamroll traditional marriage.
That’s what I see here.

Not a dimes worth of difference between Lindsey Graham and Chuck Shumer or any other Democrat. I’m guessing McCain and his daughter are celebrating too.
God will not be mocked. Judgement will come.
