The Republican Party won't survive the passing of the Democrat's illegal immigration amnesty bill. This shouldn't be too complex for the D.C. geniuses: if you betray your party's base to pander to the opposition's base, they win, you lose.
If you screw the white working class to pander to the Hispanic vote, whites will stay home.
If you destroy your base's trust in government, by passing yet another 2000 page bill no one has read, Republicans will stay home. Republicans are too busy working and raising a family to waste their time voting for a bunch of cynical, lying politicians.
President Bush let down his base by spending money like a drunken sailor. They stayed home.
Obama lost Democrat voters in 2012, but he won anyway because an estimated 6 million white voters stayed home compared to 2008. Who were these election drop-outs? Rural, working class Republicans.
The Democrats want "comprehensive" immigration reform because it legalizes eleven (or is it twenty?) millionillegals, brings in their families and on top of that, doubles the number of legal immigrants. Plus the CBO says 75% of illegal immigration would continue. This will create a record number of foreign-born legals and illegals, mostly Spanish-speaking, mostly third world, mostly a net drain on taxpayers. We are talking about an estimated 56 million people within a decade. According to the Center for Immigration studies, "There has never been a period in American history when the foreign-born share grew this fast."

Rube and Ryan don't understand this simple maxim.
Any aggressive movement to stop this bill from happening has to occur NOW. If we wait, then it will be too late. Rule of law will prevent ever going back on this, until we are outnumbered and then rule of law will not matter. We will get screwed because we play by the rules. The other side doesn’t. The only way out of this mess is to stop playing by the rules.
Someone said burn it down and start over. You can only do that when you control the matches. Wake up the matches are being removed from your hand. It must happen now.
The country survived the decline and fall of the Whigs, and it is likely to survive this, but the current Republican establishment is growing less and less likely to survive each successive election. I won't mourn it when it goes.

This is just about the most insightful post on FR I have ever read.
To add to it - the above quote will apply to who gets hired by the new bloated federal bureaucracy. The “best” white liberals will not be hired for the job openings; the jobs will be going instead to less qualified (for the same position) “minorities” and the white liberals are too foolish to understand that is going to happen and will wonder why it happened.
Whites will be shut out of jobs - it’s going to get very ugly for all whites - and I am not racist. Rather I hate artificially engineered social “in”justice. All government hiring is going to be based on skin color in the near future; this is one of the reasons the dems in power now are so anxious to do away with ALL private enterprise. Then they will have complete control of hiring and they won’t be hiring white liberals or any whites.
The article title has a hidden assumption that the Republican Party is going to survive if amnesty is defeated.
I have my doubts.
We need to melt the phone lines of our Senators and Congressmen telling them to vote NO! on amnesty.

Dear Honorable US Senator ...,
Sir, I am extremely upset with this latest sham amnesty immigration bill the US Senate is currently debating.
Words cannot express my anger at the utter foolishness of this bill. Rewarding criminal behavior encourages more criminal behavior. People cannot begin their careers in America by breaking the law. Further, it hurts minimum wage American workers by causing them to compete with millions of foreign workers. by I am dismayed at those in Congress who lack the understanding of this critical issue to our nation.
I along with most other Americans are in favor of legal immigration for those who are willing to learn our language, culture, and invest the time and money required to become a U.S. citizen - but not for those who willfully break on our laws, spit on our country, demand benefits, and are not willing to go through proper channels to become an American citizen.
What is the solution? It won’t be easy because we didn’t get into this situation overnight. I believe we need to do the following immediately:
1) Secure our borders
2) Enforce existing law
3) Do not allow any amnesty provisions of any kind
4) Improve our visa system
5) Prosecute and fine those businesses which knowingly employ illegal workers
6) Give law enforcement officials the necessary resources and authority to combat illegal immigration
7) Deport illegal aliens violating the law after being fingerprinted, photographed, iris scanned, charged with a felony, and their information placed in a national database.
8) Send a bill for deportation/prison costs to the embassy of the illegal immigrant’s national origin.
9) 2nd time and thereafter repeat offenses by illegal aliens should be sent to work prison camps for a maximum of 6 months - building the southern fence/wall.
10) Seize and liquidate all assets from illegal aliens and use the proceeds for our military and local law enforcement.
11) Must not give illegal immigrants government welfare benefits of any kind, including Social Security
12) Designate English as our national language
13) Change the 14th Amendment regarding birthright citizenship for the children of illegal immigrants
14) Mandatory proof of citizenship for voting
15) Mandatory proof of legal status for DL or ANY government issued ID or benefits card
16) Put pressure on the Mexican government and other nations to reduce illegal immigration to America.
17) Encourage only legal immigration and citizenship to for those wanting to become Americans.
These ENFORCED changes would strengthen America greatly.
Please consider voting against this terrible legislation should it come before the full floor.

If I played Devil's Advocate for amnesty, I would argue that if we don't elect a GOP POTUS in 2016 (with the help af grateful Hispanics after amnesty), it's likely that Hillary would get to replace Scalia or Kennedy, both of whom would be 88 at the end of 8 years.
Just one little thing wrong with that. After the 1986 amnesty, the Hispanic share of the GOP vote went down from 37% in 1984 to 30% in 1988.

Even worse now because a Dem is POTUS and gets to sign it.
If this bill were to pass (or any bill with citizenship) into law Rubio has it set-up so he would be the only one to get any credit from Hispanics for it, no other GOP would. And most would credit Obama buts he's not running again
But now Rube has at least temporarily alienated conservatives over this by being so dishonest.
So we go into 2016 and he becomes the new ‘only electable’ candidate because some Hispanics will give him credit for compassion etc and vote for him. Like Romney was 'electable'.
Then 2016 its just like last year with Romney, although Rubio is a much smoother talker than Romney is. He is dangerous for sure.

You right. If this atrocity passes we are looking at 30 million plus unknowns being put on a path to citizenship. They will destroy our national identity. No country can absorb the entire underclass of another nation the size of Mexico.
30 million Irish, Italian, English, Romanian, French, Chinese etc never immigrated here. No other ethinic group ever came here in those numbers. And when they did come they were not granted immediate welfare which will happen in this instance.
