'This is the thing revolutions are made of'

The Supreme Court had no reason to rule on the merits of the Defense of Marriage Act, but the majority opinion lays the groundwork for a sweeping, national legalization of same-sex marriage in the near future, warns Liberty Counsel Chairman Mathew Staver.

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court handed same-sex marriage advocates a pair of victories. In addition to dismissing a defense of California’s traditional marriage amendment based on legal standing, it struck down a provision of the Defense of Marriage Act, or DOMA, as unconstitutional that allowed federal benefits only for spouses in heterosexual marriages. That’s because the 1996 federal law recognized marriage as only the union of one man and one woman. The Court preserved the DOMA provision that allows states to refuse recognizing homosexual marriages performed in other states.

“Under DOMA, same-sex married couples have their lives burdened, by reason of government decree, in visible and public ways,” wrote Justice Anthony Kennedy in the majority opinion. “DOMA’s principal effect is to identify a subset of state-sanctioned marriages and make them unequal.”

Kennedy was joined on the opinion by the Court’s four liberal justices.

Staver blasts the majority for ruling on the merits at all, saying the case never should have come this far since the Obama administration refused to defend DOMA. The government, the plaintiff and the lower courts all agreed on the earlier verdict, so Staver said this matter never should have reached the Supreme Court.

“The parties all agree that the ruling below is correct. Therefore, it should never have gone to the court of appeals, and certainly the U.S. Supreme Court has no jurisdiction. This is just an advisory opinion,” Staver said. “This is unprecedented that the Court took this step to actually even decide the merits of the case.

Had the God-guts been there, things never would have come to this pass.

We appear headed for a France-y future.

I think we have a little more fight than that left, no?

Priorities have to be gotten straight. Everything of ours yielded to God — even our hopes of recapturing some of America need to be yielded. We cannot twist the everlasting arms, so to speak.

A dissolution of the Union wouldn't require a revolution. Just a recognition that we won't put up with any more federal crapola. Without us the feds are nothing. We supply the soldiers and sailors. We stack the wheat and forge the steel. We make the cars and trucks. We frack the gas and oil. We have the nuclear power stations. We control the entire trans-continental gas and power grid. They do PowerPoint presentations and live their lives in cubicles.

Screw these effete Coastal fairies. If they try anything stupid (and they might) let them send in their mighty LGBT army. I saw a picture of a bunch of DHS recruits that are supposed to be Obama's hope. They're nothing. Low class, ignorant looking thugs-in-training. Our veterans would brush them off pronto.

Honestly, it's really to laugh. The king has no clothes. He's buck naked. The feds have only the power we grant them. They live off us. We feed them. We supply them. If we want to be free then we have to stop feeding the beast.

There's nothing to fear except the illusion of federal power in the face of a determined Red State populace. They exist because we let them.

And we can pull the plug on them anytime that suits us.

IMO, we're long past that time.

Ki L’Olam Chasdo.

Literally, His “lovingkindness” endures forever. The Hebrew term, whose root is “chesed”, means a loyal love that sticks through thick and thin.

Gerald Celente would disagree with that preacher and the rate of sucess for his predictions is very, very high.

I did post a URL of what he said.

Funny you say that. I heard them both on the same program, not at the same time, but still the same venue.

While I admire your optimism, the reality may be different. But I have become more of a pessimist lately.

With more manufacturers moving south, especially gun makers, I hold out hope with you. The arrogance of these PowerPoint Pussies is amusing.

Truth my friend.

"If my people, who are called by my name, humble themselves and seek my face, then I will hear from Heaven and forgive their sin and heal their land" 2 Chronicles 7:14

This has no direct carry over to a Christianized country. The original Hebrew people and their physical homeland served, among other things, as an object lesson in sin and righteousness and salvation and damnation. After that the particulars become a lively discussion and dispute among theologians, but the kingdom of heaven is supernatural. Attempts to baptize a mixed crowd of believers and unbelievers into Christ will simply fail.

America had a wondrous start because of the God-orchestrated confluence of bible believers into the founding fathers. They believed in bible teaching, and their concept of religious freedom didn’t mean chucking the bible out for atheistic malcontents but rather in never endorsing a denomination over the others. However as the faith waned, so did the blessings until affairs deteriorated into their current state.
