Charles Grassley: Rubio’s work on immigration does not destroy his 2016 prospects

The rumors of the demise of Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio’s presidential prospects in Iowa as a result of his role in crafting immigration reform are somewhat exaggerated, said Iowa Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley on Thursday.

Iowa Republican Rep. Steve King, a fierce opponent of immigration reform, has said that Rubio is toast in the Iowa caucuses, should he run for president in 2016. A number of Iowa conservatives expressed similar opinions to the Washington Examiner’s Byron York last month.

But Grassley said that in 2013, it was too early to make such predictions.

“It’s pretty hard for me to tell you three years out,” he said, speaking to the press just 40 minutes before the Senate was set to vote on the comprehensive immigration reform bill crafted by the bipartisan Gang of Eight, a group of which Rubio is a part. “It may influence some people right now, but right now is not 2016.”

Really? Another moss-back heard from. Grassley did have his finger on the pulse of the party when Gerald Ford was president.

Of course it doesn’t. It didn’t destroy McCain’s after his 2006 and 2007 immigration failures. The republican establishment loved shoving him down our throats, forcing us to vote for such an odious man. The same with Romney. Now they’re pushing Christie and Jeb Bush. And Rubio will be a third backup, just in case some conservative gets traction. Either way, they get one of their own as the nominee, one who has been bought, cajoled, paid-off, blackmailed, co-opted, whatever!

Trust me on this one, Charles, as the Iowa GOP see their scarce jobs disappear into the cheap “migrant” black hole, their taxes going up for Obama-migration, we’ll help them remember who is primarily (in the GOP) to blame!

Well, you know as well as I that as soon as Rubio gets the GOP-e nod at the 2016 GOP-e Convention, Rove and Priebus will dispatch their harpies to FreeRepublic to corral and browbeat all of us who will refuse to vote for their latest loser. We'll get posts like "Hillary thanks you for your vote" etc.

As always, a Republican RINO moderate, immediately pipes up to undermine another (more conservative) Republican. Amazing how it seems that democRATS NEVER speak out against another democRAT, no matter how vile or perverted or corrupt that democRAT is. Only moderate, liberal statist RINO repubs attack conservative Repubs. And these same liberal statist RINO repubs NEVER attack any liberal democRATs, or commie pigs like RAT bastard 0dumb0.

So Grassley is now an authority on how to remain committed to Conservative views and achieve enough voter confidence to retain viability as a candidate?

That’s like asking for fashion tips from lady GaGa.

This is why you don’t trust / vote for / support lesser evils. They come back later to campaign for greater evils.

I have to agree completely with Grassley’s notion that “Rubio’s work on immigration does not destroy his 2016 prospects”.

Of course it does not. However, he’ll have stiff competition for the nomination from Hillary!(TM) fer sure!

Grassly is strictly speaking as a DC insider of course, but out in the country where folks know they've been betrayed by Rubio and other RINOs, it's a different story.

“Charles Grassley: Rubio’s work on immigration does not destroy his 2016 prospects”

Mark my words. The same wannabe king-makers(rove) who appointed romney—wll be looking at a Christie/Rubio ticket in 2016. I guess they REALLY want to see the partys’ last agonized gasp.
