Rubio's immigration strategy worked brilliantly, but disappointed many

"Menendez told me that Rubio's role was to 'work over the conservative universe, particularly the conservative opinion-maker universe,' in order to 'neutralize them' and, in some cases, 'proselytize them,'" the New Yorker's Ryan Lizza reported recently, referring to Democratic Gang member Robert Menendez. The leader of the Gang, Democrat Charles Schumer, "was delighted to have a Tea Party conservative who could sell an immigration bill to the right," Lizza wrote.

The plan worked brilliantly. Conservative talk radio hosts who might have instinctively opposed immigration reform as conceived by Schumer gave Rubio a respectful hearing and a lot of room. When Rubio told them the bill would secure the border first, they believed him.

Later, when it became unavoidably clear that, in fact, the bill would first legalize millions of currently illegal immigrants, and only after that start the work of securing the border, some conservatives began to express skepticism, disappointment and opposition. But Rubio's neutralization campaign had bought the Gang precious months to write the bill and gather momentum before conservatives began to realize what was actually in it.

Strategy?

“Hey, I’m gonna lie all through my campaign to get elected. Then, Once I get in office, I will buy time with my lies so that the Democrats can screw over the people who elected me.”

That is brilliant if you are an amoral liar.

Rubio's immigration 2016 presidential campaign strategy worked brilliantly, but disappointed [too] many
There, fixed it.

All he accomplished was to give the media amd Dems a 'national' issue with which to beat up on the R House members in the 2014 election.

What a dangerous fool.

Though the House SHOULD pass a bill, just one that puts borders first.

No, they should pass nothing, except odiferous gas in the direction of the Senate. Passing any bill will allow a still bad bill to go to Obama AFTER it has gone to committee. Boehner should come out today and and state that the bill being sent to the House is so bad and this issue is so important that it will have to wait until after the 2014 elections. But he won't, I'm sure.

Absolutely not!

The House should pass no immigration bill at all. Any bill that passes the House will go into conference with the Senate bill and the House leaders (RINOs all) will get to appoint the conferees. They will gut the House bill and replace it with the Senate bill intact with a lot more pork and minor House bits added so the RINOs in the House can say it was the best compromise (ie. bribes) they could get. Then they will pass the bill in the House with all the democrats and some RINOs voting for the bill. Make no mistake, do not be fooled, we will get the Senate bill if any immigration bill is passed by the House.

The only thing the House should be working on is impeachment of the president for refusal to do his job, for creating law out of executive orders, etc.

“I do not comprehend why there is no criminal mechanism to remove a politician from office when they violate their campaign promises to their constituents...and don’t tell me about recalls, most of those fail...”

Except for the mechanism to remove lying politicians, why are there no mechanisms to remove lying politicians?

Not sure I get you here.

But yes, recalls are hard and take a lot of work that, frankly, too few of us are willing (or have time) to do. Having a completely corrupt Republican party doesn’t help and neither do those Republican voters willing to hold their nose and vote for any liar no matter what(imho). As long as there is no political cost to liberal Republicans, nothing will change.

If we lose the House in 2014 they will deliver the coup de grace to America.

So, instead of trying to do something, it’s better to let the “system” defeat us and just let our nation be dragged down into the sewer because it’s easier.

Sad comentary.

In Brazil, poor people are rioting over the money Brazil has spent to host the olympics. Across the Middle East, people rioted and had civil wars over politicians that never leave. In some parts of the world, freedom and liberty still mean something. In the 1980s, one young man in Tienanmen Square in China had the courage to face down a tank.

But, NOT in America. We have become too apathetic to get off our butts and fight for the country we claim to love. We’re too sure that we can fix the ills of our country at the next election by re-electing the same people who created the problems. We can’t be bothered to go into the streets en masse and tell the politicians that Fast & Furious is not ok; that Benghazi was murder committed at the highest levels and someone needs to be held accountable; that spying on American citizens in clear violation of the 4th Amendment is an outrage that needs to be addressed; that holding America hostage to the oppressive and tyrannical demands of a fraudulent leader who wants to deprive us of a major source of electrical power by banning coal-fired power plants is not the direction America wants or needs to take; that dismantling the military to pretend that our multi-trillion dollar deficit is getting better not worse is the worst kind of fraud.

Yeah, doing something to stand up for America and opposing the direction into which we are being dragged is just too much work; let someone else do it because we have to work even though the new immigration bill passed by the Senate penalizes employers $5000 for hiring American citizens to do the job an illegal should have.

If we start now, we may make it through every national cemetary apologizing to the veterans who gave their lives fighting just so we could come to this point in our history!

Well hopefully not that literally, as Rubio does have a wife and family. The conversion appears to be one with connections— and money to be made in the brokering of the new “processable” immigrants who will need “help” of Lord knows how many contractors to assist their “pathway”, fee based. Beltway bandits all.

Rubio is married to a Columbian, not that there’s anything wrong with that. But the desire to “open” the borders to any immigrant and reward those illegally here with highly prized (used to be) US citizenship, it driven as much by greed as it is for the new plebiscite, which only the morons in the GOP could think will respond to republican “pull up your own bootstraps” vs. on the govt teat forever. Schumer is the immigration lawyer’s rain man and sugar daddy all in one, and publicity pimp. He is the portrait of a bad jew from which the stereotype is easily built (and also a machine politician— Tammany writ large).
