Anti-Muslim Brotherhood Protests in Egypt: Largest Political Event in World History

The demonstrations that began Sunday in Cairo, Egypt against the Muslim Brotherhood government of President Mohamed Morsi have attracted "millions" of supporters and many counter-demonstrators as well, making the protest the largest political event in the history of the world, according to the BBC. The protests in Tahrir Square and throughout Egypt exceed those that ousted President Hosni Mubarak in 2011 in the key event of the Arab Spring. Two years later, after constitutional reforms and elections that saw Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood move to aggrandize their power, the public backlash is immense.

We are only a few scandals away from such things coming to America. The summer isn’t over. When the truth about Obama and his pirate crew come out the people will be enraged—Liberal AND Conservative. I have faith in the will of the American People. We on the right have history behind us.

If that’s true, then it’s only to replace him with someone even more radical. Or a fake “moderate”, like Rowhani over in Iran.

You apparently haven’t been reading about this, then.

It is more modern secularist Egyptians that do not want Islamic rule that are massing in these protests. Same thing as in Turkey. 14 to 17 million in Egypt today.

TB2 has a good thread about what’s going on:

Then, like in Iran, those secularists are grossly outnumbered by the Islamists. And Obama is not on the secularists’ side, preferring to side with the Muslim Brotherhood. The MB has been doing counterprotests designed to neutralize the secularists. (Forgot about the big Tahrir Square chant already?)

Also, the Islamists are quite entrenched in Turkey. The age of Atatürk is dead.

Why do you say the secularists are outnumbered by the islamists? If the mil supports the protesters, and it looks possible, than the outcome is not assured.

You are more negative than I am.

I suspect that the military in Egypt have an ulterior motive for possibly supporting the secularists. Think of the MB's stance on Israel, and then think of three words, which I am absolutely certain that the Egyptian military is thinking as well...

(PS those three words are Aswan, High, and Dam...)

Because I prefer the truth to liberal lies. These facts were borne out in polls even during Mubarak’s time; the vast majority of “al-Masri” (Arab Egyptians, vast majority Muslim) are sympathetic with Hamas, seek the destruction of Israel, and want to see a new Caliphate appear. The Muslim Brotherhood would not be in power without the help of the military, bottom line; and that means that the military is now sympathetic to their view.

Reality is not shaped by our personal positivity or negativity. Hitler was not what he was because a majority of people outside Germany were “negative” about him, by any stretch of the imagination.

Morsi was the one who legitimized the MB. I guess we’ll have to see the outcome to know who is right about this. Maybe you are; all I know is gleaned from here and there. One thing is a fact - the media in Egypt is as much a handmaiden of vested interests - currently those in power - as is the US media.

Anyone in Egypt or anywhere else reading only the US media would think everyone in the US is a hardcore leftist 0baama worshipping homosexual of color.

---------------

The world's largest anti-Islamist protest is happening right now in Tahir Square.

The opposite of your uninformed posts.
