Embassy Row: Gay diplomat an ‘insult’

Church leaders in culturally conservative Dominican Republic are outraged that President Obama nominated an openly homosexual activist to serve as ambassador to the Caribbean nation.

Cardinal Nicolas de Jesus Lopez, the Roman Catholic archbishop of the Dominican capital of Santo Domingo, Bishop Pablo Cedano and the Rev. Cristobal Cardozo, leader of the Dominican Evangelical Fraternity, are urging President Danilo Medino to reject the nominee, Chicago lawyer James Brewster.

“It’s an insult to good Dominican customs,” Father Cardozo said last week.

Bishop Cedano denounced the nomination for showing “a lack of respect,” and added cryptically: “If he arrives, he’ll suffer and will be forced to leave.”

Archbishop Lopez sounded exasperated. “You can expect anything from the U.S.,” he told reporters in Santo Domingo.

Mr. Brewster, co-chairman for gay issues at the Democratic National Committee and a major fundraiser for Mr. Obama, is one of five homosexuals Mr. Obama nominated to serve as ambassadors in June, designated as “Gay Pride Month.”

That’s a good idea, but McCainer and Linda Graham will throw hissy fits. In all likelihood, Sen Cruz will be the only Senator to vote no on his confirmation, and the MSM will write stories calling Cruz “Senator No.”

King Zero and his Court strike again!

They just can't understand why other nations do not bow down and submit themselves to him (like Amerika has....). Why, he just might have to send in his Elite Rainbow Parapoofters!

You may be right, it wouldn’t be a surprise.

On the other hand, Republicans will never win much of the homo vote, so they would be smart to take a shot at improving their chances with hispanics. Some of the Republicans will figure it out, and it only takes one to put a hold on a nominee, IIRC.

“He does seem to like appointing...”

He likes making bumbassadoral appointments that piss off certain countries.

Me thinks he has taken a page out of FDR’s ‘book’...FDR appointed Papa Joe Kennedy ambassador to the Court of St James...appointing that POIrishS to the Court of St James was an affront to Great Britain, and I believe FDR intended it to be so.

Now, before you Irish all start flaming me, only this Scotch-Running Irishman is/was a POS. I lived in Ireland for three years (’78-’81) and I love the country and the people. When I was there I was loved/liked/tolerated by both sides...I was there during some of the troublesome times. Seems both sides like Americans.

As for his whiskey smuggling days during prohibition, Papa Joe chose poorly, He should have been bringing in good Irish Whiskey, as in Bushmills or even Jameson. He could have changed the taste of American ‘Scotch’ drinkers forever. Bushmills especially, but even Jameson’s beats Scotch any time! :) And today they have all the malted bells and whistles, and they were first to use Sherry and other barells for finish aging to give their whiskey’s a special touch.

Liberation theology as preached by Rev. Wright explains a lot. The gays are useful but the white ones will eventually be in trouble.

Much can be learned by studying the treachery of liberation theology.

He’s really stirring the pot worldwide.

These people are rank amateurs running State and around the WH. Just because they’re all in rainbow heaven, doesn’t mean they can foist it on the rest of the world at will. Don’t these people do a scintilla of research into a country before they send someone in?

Tit for tat: In an attempt to be equally offensive to the Obama administration, the Dominican Republic has appointed a new ambassador to the United States — a white male. /myfertileimagination

They have the right to be insulted.

In your face gayness does not make for good international relations. How many people will be sacrificed by Bathhouse Barry?

The receiving country is not obligated to accept a particular ambassador-nominee’s credentials. If they do not, he ain’t the ambassador.
