Obama's snub of his Kenyan fatherland in his current trip to Africa exemplifies how overall U.S. policy toward the continent is failing.
FORTUNE -- President Obama, on his second official visit to Africa, is again choosing to skip his Kenyan fatherland. Officials in the Obama Administration say the avoidance is due to the recent election of President Uhuru Kenyatta, who is under indictment by the International Criminal Court for his alleged role in post-election violence following the last presidential contest in 2007. The president is instead traveling to South Africa, Senegal, and Tanzania, Kenya's next-door neighbor and perennial rival.
While Obama is in his backyard, President Uhuru will be on a three-week trip abroad to meet with business and government leaders in Russia, Japan, and, most importantly, China. Despite the insistence of Kenyatta aides that his trip was planned long before Obama decided not to visit Kenya, it's hard to believe he wouldn't have changed his plans if Kenya's favorite son decided to come to town.
Historically, Kenya has been a strong U.S. ally. According to a 2012 BBC global opinion poll, 79% of Kenyans view the U.S. positively, making citizens of the nation some of the most pro-American in Africa. The deterioration of relations between the governments of the U.S. and Kenya is unfortunate, but it is not an isolated example in Africa and epitomizes the failure of American's engagement strategy throughout the continent.

The Obama administration’s answer (to why they are skipping Kenya) is blunt: The new Kenyan president, Uhuru Kenyatta, and his deputy, William Ruto, who were both elected this March in a vote that fell sharply along tribal lines, stand accused of crimes against humanity by the International Criminal Court.
They are charged with paying gangs of young men to commit mayhem – including rape, murder and mass looting — during the tribal violence that followed a disputed presidential election in 2007.
Ruto is scheduled to stand trial at The Hague in September, with Kenyatta up next in November. Both men deny the charges against them. They have indicated they plan to attend parts of the trial, but not the full proceedings.
“It just wasn’t the best time for [Obama] to visit Kenya at this point,” a White House official said on condition of anonymity. “Given the fact that Kenya is in the aftermath of their election and the new government has come into place and is going to be reviewing these issues with the ICC and the international community.”
I have a photo of a sign saying welcome to Kenya Obama birth place. I just can’t get it on here but I;m sure another freeper could find that green sign saying that.

The American media can enter Kenya when Obama isn’t there. Conservative bloggers and investigative journalists have been going to Kenya to try and uncover the truth about Obama’s origins since shortly after February 10, 2007 when Obama first announced that he was a presidential candidate.

Loren, only you would believe crap like this. As Obama has advocated similar ideas and methodologies, none of the rest of us find his "moral" objections persuasive at all.
Obama is the closest thing America has ever had to a Nazi, and he has transformed much of the government into his own corps of Brownshirts.
Obama cares only about himself. It is far more plausible that he wants to avoid embarrassing references to his previously claimed birth in Kenya.
You are the Tom Joad of Free Republic. Wherever Obama is challenged, you'll be there defending him.
If someone says they didn't see him at Columbia, you find someone who says they did. Whenever someone says that his birth certificate does not contain the normal nomenclature, you find another that also does not.
Whatever is the accusation against him, you make a point to align yourself with Obama's defense. You have no qualms about distorting evidence to make it appear to bolster your position, so a plea of "insistence on accuracy" cannot be used as a defense.
If there *IS* a benefit of the doubt to be given, you give it to Obama's allies and defenders, not his enemies and opponents.

Do you think, ANY US President wants to be photographed and interviewed standing next to a chief of state who has been indicted for war crimes by the International Criminal Court?
Obama's supporters are highly skilled at ridiculing criticism. Obama himself is an idiot, and he has no actual skills. Obama's supporters cannot really be said to be so much skilled, rather they are in positions of influence where they can better get their message out than can their opposition. They control all means of communications with the American people, and they ridicule whatever they wish.
But still, your claim doesn't address the salient point. Obama's status in power can only be helped by your efforts. You efforts do nothing to undermine him. Putting forth information which makes him appear legitimate does not harm him at all. Attacking his enemies, (even if they are mistaken) serves no beneficial purpose to the CONSERVATIVE cause. Especially when they are not actual rebuttals to the point. You put forth non-conclusive information as conclusive rebuttals, when they are not. Again, the benefit of the doubt always extends to Obama, not his enemies.

What helped him get elected twice is the fact that all forms of communication with the American People are in the hands of Liberal Democrat Union Members from New York and Los Angeles. (and perhaps a few in Atlanta) These Liberal Democrats who control the airwaves simply cover up ugly information about Obama, and repeat endlessly faked up ugly information about his opponents. ("I can see Russia from my back porch." )

No you don't. You like taking disputed facts, and deciding them in Obama's behalf. Your constant referral to the weaselwords from Hawaiian officials is an example of this. You keep asserting that their statements about a "Record" is the same as proof that he was born there. You keep dodging the fact that no one would have to dance all around the bush if his record was straightforward.

You don't learn anything. You keep repeating the same fallacies over and over, first and foremost among them is that the various modern courts have the first clue what they are talking about.
In summation, you have not provided what a reasonable man would regard as a sound justification for your constant defense of Obama. You have provided a weak rationalization for why you are doing it, and I find it completely unconvincing.
Form follows function, and your function appears, more than anything, to make sure nothing derogatory ever gets said about Obama. At least not without some sort of rebuttal defense from you.

As I was posting that, I thought to myself, "the first thing that nimrod is going to say is: "Those bloodthirsty tyrants who murdered countless people, were not indicted by the "International Criminal Court"!" (I added the "bloodthirsty tyrant" thing, just to simplify the point. I'm sure you probably would have said something more along the lines of "Those duly elected popular leaders of other nations" or some such.)
Joseph Stalin murdered over 20 million people, possibly as high as 60 million, yet Roosevelt, (Who sucked donkey farts, but was still a better President then this current turd) had no troubles meeting with Uncle Joe.
The Salient point, of which you seem either too dense, or too unwilling to grasp, is that Presidents have no qualms about meeting with vicious tyrants when it suits them, and to believe that Barack Obama was afraid to meet with the leader of Kenya because of what some joke of an International court says about him, is a notion so ridiculous that it boggles the mind that a supposed "conservative" would put it forth.
Once again, you are defending Obama, rather than assuming the worst motives for him. As I have pointed out, you always and intentionally give the benefit of the doubt to Obama's words and intentions, and you always assume the worst motives for his opponents.
