NBC Connecticut ^

Starting today, drivers in Connecticut are paying more for gasoline.

The state's gross receipts tax, or gas tax, is going up about 4 cents per gallon because of a measure the state put in place in 2005.

Meanwhile, the diesel tax is scheduled to increase 3.5 cents per gallon.

An American Petroleum Institute report from April 2013 put Connecticut’s state motor fuel taxes among the highest in the country, at 8.1 percent after the increase.

Before the increase, Connecticut drivers were paying 63.4 in state and federal excises taxes, while Hawaii pays 67.1, California pays 68.5 and New York pays 68.9.

Between their gun laws, the Wright brothers issue and now their fuel tax, I hope I never have to travel thru the “Communist State” ever again in my lifetime. Higher taxes? Couldn’t happen in a better slop hole.

California also had a tax increase on dairy products that started today. Probably other taxes we have not heard of yet.

You have to feed the beast. The state has to keep raising taxes because they refuse to control spending on things that should not be in existance.

The first thing they should kill is there Brand new Gun Control/Registration Bill.

The State Police don’t need an increase in their funding anymore than the States Department of Education.

Connecticut has gone on a school funding spree supporting the demolition of perfectly good schools so they can create new monuments to the Democratic Mayors of their major cities.

They think Building new schools is going to improve the education of these minorities. Its not going to happen.

For example look at all of the New schools in New Haven. What a waste.

Actually the Feds are paying for a new Sandy Hook, on the site of the old one. Apparently using the old one would be too scary, but not the same site. You can thank Sen. Murphy for that one.

Well I can see demolishing that school because all it would do is bring back bad memory’s to the teachers and student who were attending class that day when that Criminal decided to shoot up the place.

The real problem is they’re tearing down perfectly good schools for NO good reason. If the students were going to learn better it would be a different story but its not.

I can see both sides of it, however it is Federal money to replace a school owned by Newtown. Last I checked Columbine, VT or the Aurora movie theater were never demolished.

Well, that will do wonders for the black market.

I'm already sending bobtails and drivers to Mexico to buy fuel and have been doing that for years.
