A senior member of the Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) rejected on Monday the army’s 48-hour ultimatum for politicians to settle the country's political standoff.
"Everyone rejects the statement of the armed forces," Yasser Hamza, a member of the FJP's legal committee, told the Al Jazeera network.
He added, "Solutions will be in the framework of the constitution. The age of military coups is over."
Earlier on Monday, Egypt's top general, Abd al-Fatah a-Sisi, warned President Mohammed Morsi that he had 48 hours to resolve the crisis in Egypt. If he did not, the army would “intervene.”
The army would expect Morsi to lay out a road map of steps he plans to take to “satisfy the will of the people,” and restore calm; otherwise, he said, the army would take control of the country.
Hours later, the army insisted in a second statement that it was not carrying out a coup, and said that it would not be part of the government, according to Al Jazeera.
Four ministers from Morsi's government resigned in the wake of the mass protests demanding his resignation. The Muslim Brotherhood announced that it would “defend itself” from anti-government protesters, in the wake of the trashing of its headquarters in Cairo earlier Monday.
Egypt's presidency held a press conference on Sunday night at the presidential palace in Cairo, where spokesman Omar Amer stressed the presidency's respect for the demands of the street but also emphasized the need for dialogue.

Well, this little twit may have to learn a very hard lesson.
Apparently the Generals, and they have the soldiers, the tanks, the weaponbs, the aircraft, etc., believe differently. And given the western training that armed force has had, I believe they are capable...and equally importantly, willing...to take the Msulim Brotherhood down.

Hard to take those words back unless Morsi comes up with a very definitive plan. And I do not think he will.
Obama backed, American taxpayer financed hardcore islamists are confronting an American taxpayer financed military equipped with tanks and fighter aircraft, who are going up against the hard core islamists armed with American taxpayer supplied anti-tank and anti-aircraft weapons which were supplied in part by destroying and robbing our gun running warehouses in Benghazi?

I don’t think Obama dares to support Morsi as much as he’d like to. He put Morsi into power but obviously, judging by the anti-Obama signs at the demonstrations, the Egyptians know that and they don’t like it.
I think and hope that Bambi may sit this one out.

No. Obama will weigh in and say he supports the will of the people etc etc who elected Morsi. Obama does not have to say he supports Morsi per se. Obama will hide behind the sham election results.
Which 'side' did the army support when Mubarak came under fire? None, and that is the 'side' they are backing today. The Egyptian military did not put Morsi and the MB into power, that was done by democratic means. The army *did* effectively remove Mubarak from power, and will, if they deem necessary, do the same to Morsi. They will not hesitate to do so, since under the circumstances, the continuance of Egypt as a viable sovereign nation is possibly at stake...

Actually, I’d be surprised if Baby Bambi said anything. He wasn’t well received in Africa, even though the press tried to cover it up, and I think he’ll probably go to ground and plot quietly for a while.
