DENVER — The back-and-forth continues between constituents of embattled Senate President John Morse over which side’s tactics in an ongoing recall fight are more deplorable.
On Monday, the group leading the charge to recall Morse, D-Colorado Springs, for his support of gun control legislation, held a press conference and accused Morse’s team of harassing and intimidating those who signed recall petitions over the past several months.
“We have a constituent who was called and threatened that he might be audited,” said Jennifer Kerns, a spokeswoman for the group Basic Freedoms Defense Fund. “We have a senior citizen who was contacted and, in her words, she was ‘startled’, because when she asked who they were, they wouldn’t tell her.”
It’s a response to Friday’s press conference by Morse’s team, which announced that at least 50 people who allegedly signed petitions in fact did not, calling into question whether more recall petitions were forgeries.
The group “A Whole Lot of People for John Morse” has been trying to verify signatures for a few weeks, ever since Secretary of State Scott Gessler announced that more than enough signatures had been validated and that a recall election should be set.
Meanwhile, Morse has protested Gessler’s ruling and his lawyers argued last week that all the petitions should be thrown out because they didn’t include any language informing signers that they’d have to pick a replacement for Morse should he be recalled.
Deputy Secretary of State Suzanne Staiert is expected to rule on the protest by Wednesday.

When I left in 2004, Denver was still home-rule with prohibition on so-called assault weapons, and other rules. Wonder if it’s still that way.
The harassing has been going on for a long time. They had ads on radio from the beginning telling people not to answer the door when people came around with their petitions because they were criminals and felons with arrest records and it was dangerous to even answer their doors.

Generally open carry and the so-called “AW” are lawful in Colorado. Not too long ago, Denver was challenged in court but they prevailed. So almost everywhere but Denver.
They’re really going to fail trying that with 2nd Amendment supporters. Not really a group known for backing away from threats. Not really a time when we’re in the mood to eat more leftist crap either.

Concealed carry with permit. CO is a "shall issue" State. Other than the delay getting CC is no big deal.
Anyone can carry a loaded weapon in their car. Only restriction is "long guns" (rifles and shotguns) may not have a round chambered. That has something to do with hunting, not self defense.
Lots of people in CO carry - well, outside of Boulder/Denver anyway. Where I'm at, it isn't unusual at all to see people open carrying in the local grocery store. I've watched other people around them and I have yet to see anyone give these men (and women!) a second look. I've seen them having friendly chats with the store manager (apparently friends) etc. We really need to take back Colorado from the Calirado types.

I also have a non-resident Utah concealed carry permit. It does not work in Colorado for a Minnesota resdient.

I can’t concealed carry in Colorado.
Therefore, I don’t go to Colorado.
The mountains are as nice in Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming as anywhere, though, for me anyway.
