Independence Day celebrations have been canceled at the Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base and at the Army's Fort Bragg, both in North Carolina. The annual July Fourth celebration also has been scrapped at the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany, Ga.
The reason is money — namely the lack of it.

The way I look at it, had Obama not gone on his $100 million junkett and hadn’t IRS sent out the $100mil in tax returns to illegals at the same addresses, the Fed government would have more than enough funding not to FURLOUGH their DoD personnel beginning next week.
It would also help if he didn’t promote homosexuality in the military, which has resulted in an avalanche of sexual assault investigations from gay rapists targeting the unsuspecting, who actually respect the law.
Agree. The purpose of them publicizing this is to lower morale and to be chicken crap about it. The sequester was for 80 million, not some big deal. obamaumau spent 100 mill on his afro vacay.
The Marines can supply considerable real fireworks if needed.

One can celebrate Independence Day- and keep in mind that with the will of the People we can be independent of an executive who has abused his power. We have the power to do it- and need only do it. Requires spine in the Congress— and there is what we can also affect.
If it were up to 0bama he'd outlaw any public display of pride for the U.S.A. Wanna REALLY piss him off? Wave an American flag in front of him. July 4th is coming up! Better yet, the Gadsden flag and it's "DONT TREAD ON ME" is quite appropriate with the NSA, 0bamacare, etc., invasion of our privacy.

It’s not just obama, think about it, think about the bushes, carter, clinton, the Congress, the NSA, the DOD, and the list goes on and on and on, no, you do as you please, but I see no reason to celebrate the death of the Republic.

Don’t blame it all on Barry. The House Republicans control the power of the purse. Boehner and McConnell signed up for the mess of a budget process we have today. All the House Republicans have to do is show a little backbone and use the power the Constitution gives them. They can pass a balanced budget that properly funds the government and defunds the czars, the Department of Education, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the DOE bureaucrats, and all of the other waste. They can send the budget to the Senate and go home. If Harry Reid and the Dems choose not to pass it, the government shuts down and it is their fault. After about 3 weeks of screaming at the Republicans their constituencies of low information voters will be demanding checks and the Dems will have no choice but to sign the House budget.
Instead, Boehner and McConnell talk while letting Harry Reid and Obama dictate the terms of their surrender. I’ve never understood why when the Republicans are constantly blamed for cutting off the poor, denying abortions to women, and keeping deserving students from getting hundred thousand dollar student loans they don’t just do it.
The answer. They support the welfare state.
Oh, I know— I do think about it. We must all stick together, and stand fast. Constitutional Party (not the Freedom Party, Sarah is coining, although that appeals more broadly). And beginning to form a group to repeal the 17th Amendment and return our Senators to being elected by our state legislatures.... not by foreign governments. They do not feel they owe their state anything.
I too think of all of our country men and women who died defending our Freedom and for others in the world in self-sacrifice. The sheer nobility of that drives me to remember and be resolute. I do think we will have to march on the Capital- and demand the removal of these tyrants. This great experiment needs our action to preserve it. I share your sadness, but I don’t think the Republic is dead yet— on life support.
Nowadays the security is contracted— can you believe it? Even the gate guards, not rotations of active servicepeople.
Navy uses Marines in super secure areas, with shoot to kill orders (for ex. in nuke storage or dockage with warships with nukes, like our subs).
You would think that Bragg, part of our SpecOps Command would have some tough bastards in security from our forces— nope- they hire rent a cops. Recall the Hasan shooting in Ft. Hood.. on base they don’t carry arms— crazy.

During the sequestration, overtime if fairly well forbidden, except in dire emergencies, deadly force, and life threatening situations.
Concur on the fireworks being a non-appropriated funds issue.
