Paula Deen's accuser: 'This has never been about the N-word'
CNN ^ | 07/02/2013 | Melissa Gray

Posted on 07/02/2013 12:45:57 PM PDT by SeekAndFind

The woman who filed a harassment lawsuit against Paula Deen said Monday her suit "has never been about the N-word," addressing the slur that has tarnished the celebrity chef's image and cost her endorsements, a book deal and her TV show.

The statement from Lisa Jackson was the first since the scandal began last month, when Deen's deposition in Jackson's suit was made public.

In the deposition, Deen acknowledges using the racial slur more than once "a very long time" ago.

"This lawsuit has never been about the N-word," Jackson says in the statement, provided to CNN's Don Lemon by her lawyer, Matthew Billips. "It is to address Ms. Deen's patterns of disrespect and degradation of people that she deems to be inferior.

"I may be a white woman, but I could no longer tolerate her abuse of power as a business owner, nor her condonation of Mr. Hier's despicable behavior on a day-to-day basis. I am what I am, and I am a human being that cares about all races, and that is why I feel it is important to be the voice for those who are too afraid to use theirs."

Jackson is a former manager at Deen's restaurants in Savannah, Georgia. She is suing Deen and her brother, Bubba Hier, alleging they committed numerous acts of violence, discrimination and racism that resulted in the end of her five-year employment at Deen's Lady & Sons and Bubba's Seafood and Oyster House eateries in Savannah.

This was always about Valerie Jarrett getting even with Paula Deen for saying Moochelle eats like a horse.

Lisa Jackson, the accuser, is WHITE?

So doesn't that mean she doesn't have "standing" like in the the California prop. 8 case?

Well, she might have standing in the Prop 8 case, but on the other side, if you delve into the depositions . . .

The lawyer made it about the N word when he asked Deen the question.

And if this woman didn’t like the work environment she should leave.

Now it looks like she’s trying to become a celeb...who would hire her after this frivolous lawsuit?

Grow up. The boss may be a son-of-a-bitch but the son-of-a-bitch is boss.

How does this white woman even have “standing” in this case (where did I hear that word last week)?

Sounds like extortion (pay off the lawyer or face a media smear).

Meanwhile someone who tried to sell a script to David Letterman was made the bad guy in that whole story.

Exactly, the “N-word”, is just a tool to be used as a means to that end.

Somewhere recently I saw posted a letter that Lisa Jackson had written to Paula Deen two years earlier before she filed the lawsuit, gushing Paula and her brother how much they had done for her career and life by hiring her and helping her out.

“In it, Jackson gushes, “When I came to work for this company as a person, I felt hopeless. I needed something, some opportunity that could provide me hope as an individual, as a woman, to make it on my own….I was stuck in an unhappy marriage because I had no other options….When I started working for Bubba, he gave me an opportunity that allowed me, over time, a freedom I have never experienced. He allowed me, for once in my life to take care of myself and for once have faith in myself as a person and as a woman to know that I could do it on my own…Since then, I have been given opportunities that I never thought possible, all because of you and Bubba.”

Also I suspect that the reason they’re now saying this isn’t about the ‘N’ word is that they didn’t anticipate the fact that with all her contracts cancelled she may not have any money left even if they do win the lawsuit.

I read that Jackson - who is white - has “mixed” grandchildren, supposedly “justifying” her lawsuit.

I’m pretty sure her mixed grandchildren did not work for Deen, or her brother.

IT is amazing that the allegations of one person hell bent on blackmailing another of wealth without due cause and effect has toppled an empire.
I would hope that FN Wal-mart and the ham joint and all her sponsors that were so readile able and willing to make a buck on the Paula Deen Brand get their due process as well! This crazy person should sue them as well for making a fortune on her misfortune!
Paula Deen was not the only one to reap reward from this brave, poor misbegotten soul that was so adversly tormented!
All of Paula’s sponsors owe her a paycheck as well, as she worked to help the Brand of Paula Deen! This Chick needs a new attorney! And Sharpton and Jackson need to come to the helm and Chastise these God forbidden Companies that steal the life out of an employee and give nothing back as a reward for being the meek and humble soul she is!

Whatever happened to “You can take this job and shove it”?

She had to file a lawsuit because her boss is rich, that’s why. It’s THE MONEY!!

She could also follow Elizabeth Warren’s lead and try to dig up some minority ancestry...
