GOP gloats over Obamacare delay By: Jason Millman July 2, 2013 08:31 PM EDT

Obamacare opponents on Tuesday had a “We told you so” moment.

As the Obama administration announced a one-year delay in the employer mandate, leading Republican lawmakers and political strategists painted the decision as an admission of the law’s failures – and a blatant attempt to shield Democrats during the 2014 elections.

“Delaying the employer mandate is a clear admission by the Administration that the health care law is unaffordable, unworkable and unpopular,” Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) said in a statement. “It’s also a cynical political ploy to delay the coming train wreck associated with Obamacare until after the 2014 elections.”

The administration defended the delay as an effort to provide flexibility to the business community, but it’s bringing negative attention to the law just as the White House and its health care allies launch a major campaign to sell Obamacare to the public. Enrollment in the exchanges starts in October.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, who this week received a Democratic opponent in his 2014 reelection effort, used the delay to again call for “repeal and replace.”

“Obamacare costs too much and it isn’t working the way the administration promised,” McConnell said in a statement.

House Speaker John Boehner also called for repeal and replace, rehashing Democratic Sen. Max Baucus’s “train wreck” comment. Baucus – who helped write the law - earlier this year said he was worried that implementation would be a ‘train wreck” – a line that his GOP colleagues immediately picked up and amplified.

How did the GOP have a opportunity to repeal Obamacare? When was this?

I haven’t seen any poll that supports Obamecare. Could you provide a link? All the polls I’ve seen show it has less then 50% support

Well, let's see, Mitch. How about just REPEAL? And would you love DeathCare if it cost less or worked the way Baraq said it would?

Mitch McConnell is as useless as an ashtray on a motorcycle.

I’m confused. Since obamacare is now law, how can he legally change it without a new law?

My dad has a pacemaker. He recently had it replaced, however the doctor apologized for the delay in putting it in when he wanted to. The feds have regulated that that device cannot be replaced until it is essentially on its last wire.

The GOP could take both houses without breaking a sweat in 2014..”

If the House passes an amnesty bill they will lose both chambers.

“It is better to do this right than fast.” said spokesman Adam Jentleson.

Did that apply when they were voting for it? NO.

Does that apply to the immigration vote? NO.

FAST is good since it gives no one time to read the bill. But when it is crashing, then slow is better so they can slip it past the next election.

I guess they couldn’t get the millions legalized fast enough to replace the employees that would require coverage.

I'd only favor that if the replacement included mandatory death panels for every elected Democrat over age 60.

Otherwise, I'd prefer "repeal and bury".

The GOP could take both houses without breaking a sweat in 2014 if the House were to mount a serious effort over the next year to repeal/defund Obamacare.

You gotta wonder why they won't.

Does the House have the purse strings?

Well, start zeroing out departments, OCare and the like.

Unfort. that will kill the smoke/mirrors that EVERYTHING gov’t is ‘needed’ and thus cannot have a ‘balanced budget’; but I digress.

It appears the GOP, except for a few, are quite happy to only worry about winning re-election and their perks. They sure as hell haven’t listened to their constituents in quite some time.

Maybe this year will be the bat across the cranium to wake some people up that the GOP/DEM are NOT your ‘friends’ and should not be elected.

Boy, am I tired of that cop-out already.

Judge Roberts...NSA
Rubio...NSA
Judas...NSA

The fact is, most people vote for the letter after their name than they ever do with picking up a paper, clicking on a link and RESEARCHING/VETTING the candidates.

Proof? Any number of ‘man on the street’ segments. Right may be a bit more plugged-in, but most only care about E.T. Tonight, sports, etc.
