PHOENIX - The notoriously outspoken and often controversial Westboro Baptist Church has made several threats through social media intending to picket the funerals of the 19 firefighters killed in the Yarnell Hill wildfire near Prescott.
Westboro Baptist Church posted several tweets from their Twitter account within the last 48 hours, connecting the firefighter deaths to punishment for the world's apparent tolerance of homosexuality.
In a tweet posted at 2:56 p.m. Monday, the church said, "Westboro Baptist Church THANKS GOD for AZ fires that killed 19 firefighters!"
In another post, they retweeted Arizona Senator John McCain, adding their intent to picket: "WBC to picket! "@SenJohnMcCain: The City of Prescott has released the names of the Granite Mountain Hotshots who lost their lives yesterday."

I see the Westboro false flag fags are at it again.
Westboro Baptist doesn’t tweet, they “twit”.
Send their rabid butts to Syria! That will give them something to protest and keep them busy at the same time. Win/win, yeah buddy!
Because they arrive armed with cameras and lawyers.
I hate these Westboro fags. Hopefully, the motorcycle guys will show up.
Because they are Democrat operatives.
They’re crazy, they’re nuts and they want a fight so it can confirm in their own Al Sharptonesque minds that they are victims of “discrimination” and “oppression”.
Does Westboro have an actual building? Someone ought to picket it.
PGR Phoenix is well-informed and will be where it is needed.
I read that the PG is ready to come in. I’d love to see MANY of them.
This hit the whole country, and emotions are raw here. I’d recommend they not show their faces.
Let me see if I have this right.
The (former) homosexual leader of a ‘church’ group consisting of inbred in-laws is protesting against non-homosexual firefighters because they think God is punishing homosexuals by burning Heterosexual men.
Where are all those church burning Muslims when they are needed?
So... they are 'bi' ?
Are the Westboro “BAPTISTS” some kind of communist group masquerading as baptists to sully their name?
Strange how they’ve never shown up at any soldiers’ funerals in Harlem, East LA, Newark, Detroit, or, let’s get real here, ANY ‘hood that has a MLK Blvd running through it. Why is that? Cowards? Their puppet masters at the DNC ordered them to stay away? Or both?
Perhaps this one time, some of the Gitmo population could be transfered to Topeka, Kansas for trial. Somehow, some of this group could be informed that Fred Phelps was a Muslim who denounced Islam and became a ‘Christian’ preacher. Perhaps these folks could somehow escape custody in front of WBC and perhaps the authorities could re-arrest them only after they resolved their differences with Mr. Phelps and congregation. Or not.
Has anyone heard a word out of McCain expressing condolences for the deaths as they were from his neck of the woods in AZ?
Red line. Crossed.
They did get beaten up in Reno NV a few years back. There’s video too. Nobody was ever charged.
Liberal Democrat Fred Phelps is a "civil rights" lawyer and is the recipient of multiple awards from the NAACP and other similar racist outfits. Phelps makes a big deal about moving to Topeka on the same day that the Warren Court handed down its notorious 1954 decision:
On May 24, 1954 the Lord brought my wife and me to Topeka. That same day the Supreme Court issued its order in Brown v. Board of Education. The same establishment power-mongers who opposed the simple request by black people to be treated equally in education oppose us today.
Remarkably for an older white guy, he's also stated his affinity for rap "music". In short, there's little daylight between Fred Phelps and his fellow Democrats, Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson. That's why he and his cadre of lawyers stay out of the hood. He be down wid the cause.
Yes but it's the Phelps dwelling (with an addition) in Topeka at 3701 SW 12th Street at Orleans. Check it out on the map tool of your choice. It's in a residential neighborhood. The Phelps home/church is equipped with a swimming pool and a basketball court. I drove by it a few months ago. See my other posting in this thread about the leftist Fred Phelps' background as a "civil rights" lawyer and activist.
He's not a Christian by any means. His religion? Democrat.
An interesting discussion:
What’s the best way to shut down Westboro Baptist Church?
Will somebody in the area PLEASE just go and beat the living ******* out of these people?
I seem to remember a gay couple got married in front of their church, or something like that, I think recently.
There appears to be a struggle, but no identifiable assault. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hb0Jv-n2XPU
I woud like to see these loons staked out in the path of the fire.
Because that's exactly what they want. Don't fall into their trap.
The Arizona Firefighters have provided a service of immense value to the public. The WBC have accomplished nothing of value to society, and their loss would be our gain.
Drone time, just a small armed one.
Why can’t Jesus take these sick freaks asap??
I call “Extreme Hot Air”. They always “threaten”, and then they never show. I bet these twits couldn’t even find Prescott on a map! Someone should sue them for all the times they have threatened to show up, local LE calls in reinforcements, and then the twits don’t show. When is the last time these morons could pull it together enough to actually show up?
Time for an ass wuppin!
The Westboro Baptists folk are subhuman pieces of $h!it.
I doubt He wants them.
BBC’s Louis Theroux did two shows on these freaks...”The Most Hated Family in America”... perhaps they’re on YouTube?
Interesting look behind the scenes.
Let them try. They’ll take a major beating, IMHO, if they do. Rural AZ doesn’t tolerate that kind of crap.
What is wrong with them? Why do they do this?
Because they can. Not meaning to give you a short answer, but that is why. Never lose sight of the fact that the founder is a Democrat disbarred lawyer and you will understand their motives clearer.
They do it hoping to provoke someone to assault them so they can sue for “damages.” Can’t remeber where I read it but I think that is their main source of income. It will be interesting when they eventually piss off someone with nothing left to lose who just starts capping them en masse.
Not to worry. Besides being mentally deficient asswads, they are basically cowards (the reason the bring children with them) and are not going to show up where several thousand fire fighters and their supporters are gathered.
This fellow has an interesting theory about that:
And we do know Phelps was a backer of noted leftist Al Gore:
As to his theology, anyone who baptizes exclusively based on profession of belief in Christ, and doesn’t baptize infants, can claim to be Baptist.
But Phelps claims to be Primitive Baptist. PBs are a small, very strict Baptist minority, with a solid commitment, among other things, to the doctrines of grace, including predestination, and Phelps relies on that doctrinal similarity to stake his claim.
However, the PBs are also quite serious about the pedigree of faith, believing, much as Catholics do, that only a traceable Apostolic succession can verify the authenticity of a given congregation, and they do claim such a succession, only by way of Paul, not Peter.
So any church claiming to be PB fails if they have no ordained leader not traceable to that succession, and the Phelps church is just such a creature. The only direct lineage the group has is to the Southern Baptists, and as such is not in fellowship with any other PB group at all. Therefore they are false in their claim to be PB.
Now the author of the article at the first link above makes the argument that the hateful nature of the group is by design, i.e., that some communist instigator deep in the shadows has created Westboro intentionally with as much offensive content as possible, as a way to set them up as the ultimate caricature of Christian rejection of homosexuality.
This is at least plausible because it is a known psyop method, a special use of “bracketing,” using a strong negative emotional signal in association with some target group to condition people to unconsciously reject the target, thus enabling a future attack on the target that will be warmly accepted by the conditioned population.
And as the author points out, it also provides a mental prod to “nudge” people in the opposite direction. Nobody wants to be associated with the vile hatred of such a group. He’s right. This bears the mark of Alinsky’s rule on ridicule, only instead of offering it as direct speech, it is presented as a negative cultural icon, created intentionally as a lightning rod to focus people’s minds on how awful it is to be one of those “heartless homophobes.”
And if that is the design, I have to say it is very effective, and the only antidote I know of is for genuine Christians to neutralize the ridicule by being well-informed and faithful Christians that set a good example of Christ-like love in action.
The second best thing that could happen here is for thousands of real Americans to show up an surround these creeps so they can’t get anywhere near the funerals. We all know what the best thing would be.
As an aside, I wonder why these idiots didn’t picket SCOTUS because of their two recent pro-gay decisions.
They do what they do for the shock value and for the headlines. There were lots of people picketing in front of the USSC, people with whom these creeps didn’t want to share the spotlight.
