Group Calls on Public to Let Justice Peacefully Prevail.
A week-and-a-half into the trial of George Zimmerman, members of the Project 21 black leadership network say the prosecution's case is faltering, and increased tensions as a result appear to be harming race relations in America.
As reported in the Washington Times, state prosecutors trying to make the case that Zimmerman committed second-degree murder in the death of Trayvon Martin have "stumbled" and that "several key witnesses have cast doubt on the state's version of events and on several occasions have portrayed the defendant as a credible, even sympathetic figure." Prosecutors have thus far only been able to present a "murky" description of the fight between Zimmerman and Martin and the events leading up to it, likely leaving much reasonable doubt in the minds of jurors.
"The prosecution's weak case, demonstrated by their own witnesses being more helpful to the defense than the prosecution, is literally falling apart on national television," commented Project 21 member Christopher Arps.
Arps continued: "Florida statute defines second-degree murder as 'the unlawful killing... evincing a depraved mind regardless of human life.' Although the circumstances resulting in a young man losing his life were tragic, the evidence presented fails far short of proving George Zimmerman had a 'depraved mind' when he made the decision to ignore a police dispatcher and follow Trayvon Martin."
With the prosecution apparently losing control of their case against Zimmerman, the potential for violence in the absence of a conviction -- as evidenced by militant Internet postings -- has increased. For example, a new Facebook page called "RIOT for Trayvon" was created in late June. It exhorts: "LIKE IF YOU READY TO RIDE! LET'S FLEX OUR MUSCLE! WHAT, YOU SCARED?"
Additionally, the web site Twitchy has amassed violent Twitter postings that threaten violence if Zimmerman is found innocent of the murder charge against him. One such re-posted tweet reads: "Trayvon Martin need justice! Gimme me tha pistol ill kill Zimmerman myself!" Another tweet threatening general violence claims, "If Zimmerman win, I'm gonna go kill a white a kid by mistake."
Noting how race is playing a prominent and unwelcome factor in the Zimmerman case, Project 21 member Darryn "Dutch" Martin says this sort of hostility is detrimental to American jurisprudence in general and hurtful to race relations in particular.
"Racial animosity in America is the wound that refuses to heal because people just love to keep picking at it. This focus on race plays prominently the prosecution's case against George Zimmerman, and it's also why the case is falling apart. While some would like to make it a black-white issue, it's so often overlooked that Zimmerman is part Hispanic and considers himself to be Hispanic," said Martin. "Like it or not, Zimmerman is innocent until proven guilty. For crying out loud, let the judicial process run its course."
Project 21 was formed in 1992 when the riots following the verdict in the Rodney King case revealed a need to highlight the diversity of opinion within the black community. For over 20 years, the volunteer members of the Project 21 black leadership network have provided conservative and free-market perspectives that, until that time, were largely unknown or ignored by the establishment media.
During the course of the Zimmerman trial, which is being heard in the Seminole County (Florida) Circuit Court, Project 21 members will provide commentary and be available for interviews about the case and the issues surrounding it. Project 21 will issue regular press releases featuring quotes from its members on the breaking news about the trial and any controversies surrounding it.
It was self defense.
He was a “white Hispanic” racial profiler.
Then we find out... he was a mentor to African-American kids, is respectful, and was trying to prevent crime in his neighborhood. Was confronted, sucker punched, and had to act in self defense to save his own life.
Those are the FACTS.
It’s not that things are ‘going against’ the prosecution. It’s these were the facts. The police knew it and those involved knew it but because of a political agenda this trial is taking place.
It’s a show trial against someone obviously not guilty.
Additional deaths are discretionary.
The case should have never gone to trial.
Blame the news media and the race hustlers.
Anything short of immediate hanging of Zimmerman will cause racial tension ... and riots ... latest TVs and other electronic gadgets needed by disenfranchised blacks (you know, blacks without jobs because they would rather live their lives as thugs than work and honest job)
The state was forced/strong-armed to bring this case in by Obama and his DOJ. The feds ran to Jacksonville making their plans. The police investigated the case. They found it was self defense. The race dividers in the media forced this railroad second degree murder charge to happen. Zimmerman should never had been charged. How many times does someone have to beat a person in the head before you must reach a point of fear to protect yourself.

After his conversation with the dispatcher, GZ checked on the location and was returning to his vehicle when Trayvon Martin intercepted him, punched GZ in the face and leapt on the smaller man.

IF he is acquitted George Zimmerman should declare(in jest) that the prosecution lawyers blew the case on purpose. THEN see what happens!

What the evidence actually shows is that this universally repeated meme is nothing but a fabrication - GZ could not have followed TM since he did not know where he went. GZ was trying to get information onTM's location so that the dispatcher could give that information to the cops. When it became clear to GZ that he had truly lost track of TM, and reported that fact to the dispatcher, when GZ was on foot, that's the point when the dispatcher indicated that there was no need for further efforts, and GZ turned and started walking back to his truck.
Where in any of this is GZ following TM on foot? Or for that matter leaving the truck despite being advised not to?
If fellow conservatives can't get their facts straight, how can we expect the low information dummasses to?
Too late. The outcries should have been early and loud, just as it was from us here. This has been a travesty and racial lynching from the get-go. No way GZ should ever have been arrested, let alone tried. And now if an OJ jury railroads him or if Rodney King Riots Part II follow, the blood is on black conservative’s hands as well.

Not all true. The dispatcher also said, keep a eye on the suspect until the police arrive, so he was basically following the dispatcher, if they want to be technical. A neighbor said George was heading to the store for his weekly grocery shopping. He noticed a stranger in the neighborhood so George decided to see who that was. He was not following as they have suggested. There had been homes burglarized in this area so he was making sure who the person was. Zimmerman had made dozens and dozens of calls/ complains of suspicious activity where he lives being he was the watch security guy/ asking for police assistance over a period of time. This was the first incident of a violent outcome.
Martin was saying to his friend in Miami on the phone there was a crazy a— cracker following him. So, why didn’t he turn around and be more helpful in what he what he was doing in the neighborhood on a dark night wearing dark clothing. Martin had a attitude problem, no doubt.
It's not "prosecutorial ineptitude". It's the lack of a case.
As long as they want to burn down their own part of town I say “Have at it.” Otherwise, they might get more than they bargain for. People are getting fed up with this crap.

The biggest blame can go to the resident of 1600 penn ave for sticking his nose where it should have never been, to interject into a criminal case without knowledege of facts is not right.
Z prob has a case against the supreme leader. Bummer knows where his golf clubs are and should stick to that.
