Protestors rally near NSA data center for 4th Amendment rights

BLUFFDALE — More than 100 people gathered Thursday at Utah Veterans Memorial Park to support the cause of Restore the Fourth, a national group demanding an end to what its members say is unconstitutional government surveillance.

Dan Garfield, a Saratoga Springs resident and Restore the Fourth supporter, said he believes the rally for Fourth Amendment rights was fitting for the Fourth of July because veterans have fought and died to maintain American rights.

"We feel like the government has overstepped its bounds and gone contrary to what the Fourth Amendment stands for," he said.

Garfield said the rally was initially intended to take place near the access road of the new Utah Data Center, the 1 million-square-foot, $1.2 billion facility scheduled to open this fall at Camp Williams. The data center is overseen by the National Security Agency, which issued a statement saying the facility will "strengthen and protect the nation's cyber-security."

The Fourth Amendment guards against "unreasonable searches and seizures." Concluding what is reasonable is at the center of the national debate over the NSA's data seizure and analysis.

“The Fourth Amendment guards against “unreasonable searches and seizures.” Concluding what is reasonable is at the center of the national debate over the NSA’s data seizure and analysis.”

Huh? There is a whole slew of case law that pretty well defines reasonable. Start with Map vs. Ohio. These presstitutes are scaring me. “Let us now, in this fundamentally transformed nation determine what rights the peons can have. As long as we can control them.”

We can be sure that they are not up to any good and saving their own butts is their top priority.

They’re moving a lot of agencies into the heartland. For instance, they’ve done a lot of work at the Denver Federal Center lately.

The question I have is, are they preparing for an external war/attack? Or are they moving “out to the boonies” to get away from the population so they can (a) collapse the food-supply, (b) collapse the currency, and/or (c) release biological weapons?

There are a lot of powerful people who want to reduce the earth’s population to about 300-600 million or less.

The hard core environmentalists are crazy AND evil.

“what is reasonable”

I was helping my son with a project regarding “no knock” entry into homes. Even with a warrant, that would have been considered unreasonable going back to English law way back (1600’s??). So obviously the government doing a secret search of your stuff (bedroom, car, emails, phone calls) would be unreasonable.

I quite agree. These “no knock” attacks are very troublesome to me. I understand the practical reasons in a few cases but, come on folks, it’s a standard procedure now.

“And the new super bunker under the White House.”

The evil elite will be thoroughly protected whereas we, the innocent, will be vulnerable.

My panties have been in a bunch for a very long time - I just hate to see my country taken over by liberal evil progressive liars and corrupt politicians. I’m funny that way.

Have a Q for you. These protests took place all over America - over 10,000 attendees in all. Why am I the only one who posted an article about this? What has happened to FR? You’d think FReepers would be all over this!
