OK:Woman reports shooting man trying to break into home

Police arrested a 21-year-old Lawton man Wednesday after he was shot during an alleged attempted break-in.

LPD Sgt. Henry Bryant said he met with a 23-year-old woman at her home in the 6300 block Northwest Oak Avenue around 11 a.m. She told Bryant that she had heard someone knocking loudly on her door but when she asked "Who is it?" received no reply. When the suspect began kicking the door, the woman said she moved her couch in front of it to make a barricade, the report states. The man began knocking on her front windows so she went to her bedroom. However, the man followed. When she saw the man at her bedroom window and attempting to get inside, the woman said she grabbed her pistol and fired in his direction and he fled, Bryant said. The woman described the man as wearing a towel on his head.

Bryant said the 21-year-old man went Comanche County Memorial Hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to his left arm. He told police that he'd suffered the injury at a different location and under different circumstances, but that was determined to be false. Once his injury was treated and he was released, the man was taken into custody and identified as the suspect, Bryant said. He was arrested for burglary and false reporting of a crime.

LAWTON Okla_ A man was shot at a Northwest Lawton apartment complex Wednesday after a woman claims he tried to break into her home.

The woman said she saw the suspect, Tevin Jackson, kicking her front door around 11PM. She said she moved her couch in front of it to stop him. That's when she said Jackson started pushing through her bedroom window.

She said she was afraid he would get in, so she picked up a gun and shot Jackson in the arm. He then ran to a nearby hospital for treatment. There, he allegedly lied to hospital staff about how he was shot.
