(Reuters) - Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said on Friday he had decided to offer asylum to former U.S. intelligence contractor Edward Snowden, who has petitioned several countries to avoid capture by Washington.

"In the name of America's dignity ... I have decided to offer humanitarian asylum to Edward Snowden," Maduro told a televised military parade marking Venezuela's independence day.

The 30-year-old former National Security Agency contractor is believed to be holed up in the transit area of Moscow's Sheremetyevo international airport.

WikiLeaks said on Friday that Snowden had applied to six more nations for asylum, bringing to about 20 the number of countries he has asked for protection from U.S. espionage charges.

Guess I have another new hero. Western “ democracy” pussies are too weak to stand up to the corrupt U.S.

How long before Joe Kennedy Jr. does a “free heating oil” commercial with him? Something like...”SnowedIn? Stay warm.”

Communists protect their own.

While I despise the evil scum bags for spying on innocent Americans, I did not immediately call Snowden a hero. I wanted to wait and get more information. The more totalitarian/communist countries that offer him asylum, the more I am thinking, this guy is no hero. I work with 2 nurses, both born and raised in China, and staunchly anti communist, who think he is a chump, because he went to the commies in China first.

Thousands of desperate Venezuelans have downloaded a smartphone app which helps them find toilet paper.

But the women are beautiful. They always end up in the top 5 of world beauty contests.

He went there first because he had to collect his check for services rendered.

This is what four more years of bad foreign policy does. We are not respected in the world. We can’t get back a single man. All of the other nations laugh at us for requesting his extradition.

LOL. It’s almost funny how so many of Comrade Snowden’s generation Xbox peers are evidently completely unaware of the lines for such common commodities that were typically endured in the “former” Soviet Union’s worker’s paradise... which of course NEVER spied on its own McPeople.

Almost.

Idiot, Useful; 1 generation each.

- Edward Snowden went where Obama could not easily kill him

- I see lots of criticism for where Snowden went - but I see nobody in the USA with the big brass ones to expose Barack "Maybe A Little Blow" Hussein Obama Junior

- If not Edward Snowden..... Who?

I suspect Venezuela will have to pay Putin some major bucks, or do a big favor for Russia in order for Snowden to make it out of the airport,,if he is indeed still there.

They’re too stupid to know you can wipe with paper towels, too? And make them last twice as long by de-plying them?

That so many countries refused is evidence that Obamanoids are applying pressure behind the scenes, making credible threats, which is their SOP (vide John Roberts & Obamacare), all that while some “patriots” refer to Snowden who’s done us all a big favor as “Comrade”.

France and Portugal denied a sovereign head of state access to their airspace because they believed he might be harboring Snowden.

That isn't "laughing at us" - that is a serious intervention on our behalf.

Snowden cheerleaders are becoming increasingly detached from reality.
