I wonder who made the engines?
Failure of a "stub pipe" deep within the hot section of a Rolls Royce Trent 900 nearly caused the crash of an Airbus A380 on 4 November 2010. The engine underwent an uncontained failure of a second-stage (IPT) turbine disk.
Scanner has ems transporting people to sf general with red and yellow codes which a lot smarter person than me could explain.
astonished if there are no fatalities
Right wingtip appears sheared off.
Drudge is saying “cargo plane” - yet there appear to be passengers on board as well.
Saying this plane upon touchdown, lost total control...
I hear ya. I haven’t been on a plane in decades. No money to fly, and after having first kid, afraid to fly.
MSM needs to get this picture.
I loved to fly when I was young, now I don’t fly at all.
It got so my insides would lock up for days after arriving.
Maybe it’s because I was an aircraft mech...?
Great coverage on ABC right now. The top of the plane is almost completely gone. Charred fuselage, all torn up. It looks terrible.
Red= critical yellow injuries but not life threatening...black= dead green = walking wounded
Looks like a passenger aircraft to me...And by what is being reported...
Hard to believe no one died here. If this is the case, these people are very lucky...
Looks to have been a severe internal fire, between the trailing edge of the wing and the cockpit. Roof entirely burned off.
Close up of the plane
Wow! That is a real mess.
KTVU link upthread is what I am using.
Why is Fox News interviewing a guy that doesn’t even have his TV on to see the damage?!?!?
I guess you can say Im not a very good flyer LOL. We know people who love to fly, take a sleeping pill and awake at their destination. I refuse to take any meds, hey if Im gonna die I want to see it coming LOL.
Yellow=injuries but not life threatening...
green = walking wounded
Sorry first post was a bit confusing
I think there was a 777 which emergency landed in Russia on a Moscow to Heathrow route about a month ago, ..in May13,..fire in the engine.
The scanner said 290 people and one infant on board.
Aw geez! They are talking about a possible explosion inside the aircraft that blew the tail off.
lots of people boarding busses at the triage area.
Ha, great question. I doubt it is, but just the same, we should be on the lookout.
Thanks. Now they’re deploying boats to look for potential victims.
Port engine (No. 1?) is missing.
lots of debris visible before the landing threshold
Thx for sharing. Kind of resembles today’s crash,no?
If you are ever in a situation with mass casualties...here is a tip...If you CAN..just stand fast and say/YELL TOWARD THE INJURED.... “Anyone who can WALK, come to me” (that is one way to do a FAST triage of “walking wounded and NON injured, so you can assess who may be able to assist you with others..
You must have been listening to carrier pilots——the ship’s moving and you have to snag a wire. And it seems like everyone in the world is shining blinking lights at you.——Landing on hard ground-—piece of cake. Just cut the power, pick your spot, and stick the plane on it.
The wings are damaged but from the video the wings are intact and attached.
They are saying the tail fell off upon landing. I wonder if it was a serious tail strike. Trail of runway damage from the start of the runway to where the tail debris is.
Am hearing no serious injuries..if that is the case, after seeing how bad this aircraft looks, this pilot is a hero!!
WOW! The main fuselage buckled and when it sprang back, it threw the tail off like a snap. That force went from mains, thru fuselage, and then snapped that tail off when it rolled forward and back of source. Better the tail snapped off than the cockpit.
pics and eyewitness bear that out.
Hmmm...Now after better look, it appears right wing broken off near the tip, but somewhat still attached..
Seems the aircraft bottomed out on the tail after nose went up, upon landing. Then cartwheeled per witness.
“They are talking about a possible explosion inside the aircraft that blew the tail off.”
If so, oh boy, here we go.
1) Bird strike through right engine on approach
2) Loss of power on landing
3) Right wing and tail impact runway hard
4) Right wing tip rips away and tail breaks off on impact
5) Heavy impact collapses all landing gear
6) Sudden impact triggers fire in fuselage
7) Jet skids down runway
While a tail strike is most likely scenario, I suppose the tail could have broken off as the result of a very hard landing.
Both wings largely intact, so cartwheeling is NOT indicated.
Fox providing live coverage from a helicopter overhead.
I think the gear collapsed causing much of the debris...
They got 10 guys doing a slow walk up the runway. Looking for something.
Looks like the plane struck the very end of the runway, right where the pilings are. Horizontal stabilizer lying near the end of the run way. Looks like it hit the runway so hard it disintegrated the tail section.
There could be someone(s) missing. Cabin crew could have been back there.
I hope the Amish have an alibi.
The plane never flipped over, wings intact.........could never flip with wings attached. Looks like possible explosion in the cabin as the airplane landed. The rear fuselage bulkhead was blown out rearward by whatever occurred in the cabin. The top pf the fuselage is also blown out. Those of us who spent lives in our aviation industry are leery of the cause. An explosion in the cabin that blows out the rear pressure bulkhead would be cause for the tail to fall of the aircraft fuselage. Bears looking into!!! Could still be an accident, but...in these days....one never knows. I am certain that Boeing, Asiana Air, the FAA, industry experts and the DOT will figure this out!!!
they are foaming the carp out of the fuselage now.
Yeah they’re now performing a water search with a boat and helicopter, but at least they said search and rescue.
Yeah I saw that, but right wing tip has substantial damage from about 7 feet to tip.
must be duty free stuff......
I’m hoping a bird strike and not Islamic terrorists.. Are there restrooms in the very back of the plane? Remember there was a note found in restroom on a recent flight?
