There’s No Such Thing as a Slight Sense of Entitlement
Conservative Daily News ^ | June 24, 2013 | Michael R Shannon

We’ve all seen photos of Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell. Particularly last year when he was being mentioned as a possible vice presidential pick on the Romney ticket. He would be beaming, with a large, toothy smile, looking well groomed and squeaky clean. And no wonder, this wholesome image was the product of a group effort, since the governor relies on Virginia taxpayers to keep him smelling fresh.

According to Laura Vozzella in the Washington Post, the McDonnell family has used its government–supplied credit card much like the GSA uses its card. Billing the taxpayers for “body wash, sunscreen, dog vitamins and a digestive system detox cleanse.”*

It takes a man with high self–esteem to bill the taxpayer for his weekly dose of Colon Blow, knowing the information is only an FOIA request from the public domain, to say nothing of opposition researchers. But at the same time it’s comforting to know there are no blockages, legislative or otherwise in the governor’s mansion.

And really, who wants a first family with that bloated feeling?

So it’s a lot like a case of being slightly pregnant. To bad we can’t abort the leaches.

The card that is provided, is provided with certain stipulations. Among them is that the card is NOT FOR PERSONAL USE. There is a paragraph that goes on to state that in the event that it has been determined that he card has been abused, the credit card privilege will be revoked.

Among the possible punishments that go along with having the card revoked is reduction in pay, being forced to use a personal card for travel expenses (along with the hassle of individual vouchers for airfare, rental car and hotel), or termination.

Why are Governors immune from the rules that govern us “lesser” folk?

Since this “outrage” comes from the WP, I’m suspecting that it’s being blown out of proportion by the Macaca press. At least, I’m willing to suspend indignation until I know a lot more. How much was the dollar amount of this “outrage”?

Pretty much none. But before I get all bent out of shape at what might end up being a few hundred dollars, I’d like to have a few more hard facts. You do remember that the WP managed to get a Republican senator thrown out of office because he used the silly, made up word “Macaca”?

When the WP files a FOIA request on the Obama’s then I’ll pay attention.

I would be satisfied if they would report the damned truth about them just once.
