Texas 2016 poll: Ted Cruz is king
Politico ^ | 07/03/2013 | Tal Kopan

Sen. Ted Cruz is the favorite in his home state of Texas for Republicans in 2016, a new poll finds, but any Republican might have a close general election race with Hillary Clinton.

Cruz led all potential candidates for the 2016 GOP primary by at least 12 percentage points, picking up the support of 27 percent of those surveyed in Public Policy Polling’s new poll.

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush was second, with 15 percent of those surveyed. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul both were chosen by 11 percent, Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan 9 percent, Texas Gov. Rick Perry was sixth with 7 percent and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio only got 6 percent.

(QUIZ: Do you know Ted Cruz?)

When each candidate was paired against potential Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, the poll showed some candidates might be in for a tough race. Cruz would beat Clinton 49 percent to 44 percent, the survey found, and Clinton would beat Perry 48 percent to 44 percent.

...any Republican might have a close general election race with Hillary Clinton.

With the caveat that Politico has been discredited time and time again, most voters for Hillary will be the illegal invading criminals. It's another reason to renew Ike's Operation Wetback -- if not nationwide but certainly here in Texas. Stricter identification of voters is a must to secure that Conservatism remains triumphant in Texas.

This may not go over well with my fellow Freepers but early voting has to be abolished. It's particularly an avenue of abuse by the illegal invaders and the welfare types as well as other moochers.

“No way Hillary wins Texas, these people are on drugs.”

The wild card in this poker game is the “women vote”. Women want a woman in the jWhite House. And, Hillary will pull in otherwise conservative women - count on it.

Don’t be so sure of that. If she has a Hispanic like San Antonio’s Julian Castro on board as VP, 2016 may be uncomfortably close there, though I don’t believe Texas will even be a factor by the time vote reporting comes in from there. The states east of there will have already decided the election.

Well, then.

The answer is a women who isn't a washed up has-been, ridden hard and put away wet, as the saying goes. Who hasn't presided over disasters such as Benghazi. Who hasn't been First Doormat or Senatrix from a worthless state.

But who has genuine executive experience in government. And speaks her mind in plain, direct terms.

Who could that be?

Count on it. The first woman president will be Governor Sarah Palin! She shares the values of Texas women: pro-God, pro-life, pro-gun, pro-liberty and anti-sodomy.

Palin/Ghomert 2016

As for the great Senator Ted Cruz, President Palin will appoint him to the Supreme Court as Chief Justice. With his youth and keen Conservative legal mind, America is assured that the Constitution will be held sacred for decades to come.

Moderate Repubs can’t figure out that US politics is a lot like sports. Whenever I was a kid and I watched a football game, I couldn’t watch unless I had a team to cheer for, or at least a team to root against. I think Democrats understand that concept and that’s why they are so aggressive in pushing their Liberal agenda. They’re in it to win it and that’s it. Some GOPers think that they have to please everyone to win and often voters look at them as wishy washy and they don’t respect it. Besides Romney proved the theory that even if you are a sincere moderate GOPer, the MSM and Democrats will stay portray you as a right-wing extremist in a general election. So instead of getting sensitive about these attacks, they should blast Democrats for being extremists and they should stop looking guilty for supporting conservative ideals.

Well, I like your scenario and prediction. Although I’m not willing to “count on it”, I’ll say a little prayer. God Bless Texas :)

I know what you’re driving at, but if a state has a photo ID law for voting, early voting is not a problem. A person still presents an ID in person to a polling official and is marked as having voted.

ABSENTEE VOTING and VOTING BY MAIL is where the fraud lies.

If you are not on active duty in the military and stationed away from your home district, absentee / mail voting should be illegal.

Furthermore, polling officials should be required to visit all nursing homes and hospitals, visiting each registered voter, instead of just dumping a pile of absentee ballots onto the laps of the ACORN-SEIU controlled staff.

I’m sorry if this cramps the style of all the snowbirds who vote absentee in their rust belt home states and again in person while wintering in Florida.

hildebeast is not black and when she comes out as a lesbian as the clinton machine is promising... and with BENGHAZI and all of the sex scandals at the State Department still festering... she will not even win the nomination. She was beaten soundly last time by a black muslim from Kenya who is a devout communist.

Voting for a person because of race or gender is the most stupid act in the world.

Look what we have now.

The states east of there will have already decided the election.

I think the swing states, again, are going to decide the election. Obama won by Democrat cheating in places like Ohio, Florida, etc. in a very few critical precincts where they correctly calculated a precision strike could make a difference. Even worked in Colorado, Nevada, etc.

The political apparatus (Democrat Party) and its constituents are natural born schemers and cheaters, Machiavellians all, even if their entitlement horde has no effing clue what Machiavellian means - it just comes naturally.

“I don’t think any “real” conservative woman in Texas would vote for Hitlery.”

Well, if we start with the premise that you are correct, then your comment could be rationalized more than one way; real conservative texas women are just as plentiful as their male counterparts, there may not be as many real conservative women in Texas as perceived, or who knows - women are an enigma within an enigma and are beyond being understood by men. Btw, I’m married and have three daughters. So, I consider myself to be somewhat of an authority in this, lol :) God Bless Texas!
