Gee...didn’t NBC try this once before? Leno was #1 in the ratings, but the network wanted someone who would appeal to a younger, hipper demographic. And we know how that worked out.
Now, they’re going to do it again. Except this time, NBC won’t have Leno around to bail them out. A lot of people think that Jay will sign with Fox and launch another late night talk show in about a year. That will just about finish NBC; “Today” and “Tonight” are their cash cows, and the morning show is now #2 behind Good Morning America, and that decline is costing them millions a year. If Fallon tanks in the 11:30 slot (a virtual certainty), then NBC will lose at least 1/3 of its advertising revenue.
Exactly. About that exact time I was in college and I remember my RA (dorm monitor) knocking on my door telling me I had to pipe down because I was laughing so loud.
Last I heard of Letterman continues to simply yell at Conservatives to get off his lawn!
That’s my take as well. As soon as Leno began to spoof “the one” is immediately when his ratings started to rise significantly. Coincidence?
Letterman had always made me run for the Lysol.
When Leno leaves, I won’t be watching late night shows. Accidentally had on Kimmel’s monologue the other night and can’t remember who he was ranting about but do remember the person didn’t deserve it. He was disgusting.
It isn’t that Leno is so good but rather that late night talk is so damn bad.
The only thing liberal network executives and newspaper owners have proven to be good at is losing their audiences.
Day after day, year after year, the decline has been constant. The only thing left is for companies like NBC and the New York Times to lose so much revenue, they go bankrupt.
Then Fox News and the Koch brothers can pick up the pieces and create better journalism.
Letterman was funny early on only when he was using comedy bits stolen from Steve Allen during the first Tonight Show back in the 1950s.
Fallon is talented but his transparent appeasement of blacks is tiresome.
isn’t the entire Hollywood, Washington dc, media just an appeasement of minorities period?
I bought my first Doors LP in 1967, and have always been a huge Doors fan. I still love that music. Fallon’s impersonation floored me. ‘Reading Rainbow’... hilarious (to me, at least).
