Almighty God,
We make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy Holy protection; and Thou wilt incline the hearts of the Citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to Government; and entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow Citizens of the United States at large, and particularly for their brethren who have served in the Field.
And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that Charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind which were the Characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed Religion, and without a humble imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation. Grant our supplication, we beseech Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Jim,
For what it is worth, I had a conversation with a House Rep in IN (not mine). I wrote a letter to others and my arugument was well received.
You may be able to get this out better than others or know those who can.
On the substance of the bill, not to mention to ideology, what in the bill motivates any illegal alien to come forward? As I understand it, it is totally voluntary for illegals to come forward “to be counted”. Why would an illegal immigrant choose to become a citizen once the threat of being found out and deported is gone? When this bill passes, all illegals get some time off from being stressed. Further, becoming a citizen brings on all sorts of restrictions, regulations and responsibilities that they get away with not following now.
If they become citizens here’s how their lives change:
1. Taxes
2. Loss of “In-State Tuition” in a lot of jurisdictions
3. Loss of free health care
4. Extra effort to get government assistance
5. They have to pay a bunch of fees and fines
6. They likely have to get some legal representation
After the bill is passed, the lives of all illegal immigrants gets a lot easier whether they line up to report and pay their fines or not. In fact, when coupled with Obamacare, there is better motivation to NOT become a citizen.
This should be any Reps out if they feel like there is political pressure for the RINOS.
Spoke to a argumentative little smart a$$ in Boehner’s office this morning. I told him that I had to go to work and to save the flim flam for someone else and to just put a check mark in the NO AMNESTY column.
1/Media makes noises about “immigration Bill” not passing the House
2/Lulled into a false sense of security, Joe public eases up on pressure on his/her congressman.
3/The House passes an Immigration bill with “border security” and “no amnesty”
4/Senate/House conference passes a 2700 pages monstrosity which contains:
(a)Full Amnesty, after you read the small print and/or the corresponding legal challenges that are designed to unlock the poison payload in the Bill.
(b)Massive new pork barrel spending [Murkowskism]
(c)Thousands of legal hooks to attach more Democrat/Communist front groups AKA ACORN etc funding.
(d)References in the bill to Other complex 1000 page Laws so the number of legal parasites required to interpret and pontificate upon the exact legal meaning of each malignant line is grown exponentially.
Did I miss anything?
Lots of Boehner puff pieces going around in the MSM, like “How Boehner can Save Immigration”, etc. ,etc.
Throw Mama from the Train.
I was thinking today about how Congress and the President have been ignoring the plight of our men and women in the military. They are getting hit hard with this sequester.
It doesn’t seem like anyone in Congress cares about them, just the illegals.
