Federal lawsuit seeks to legalize gay marriage in Pennsylvania

The American Civil Liberties Union today filed a landmark lawsuit in federal court in Harrisburg, demanding that Pennsylvania permit and recognize marriages between two women or two men.

The plaintiffs include 10 couples, including three couples from Allegheny County. The nominal lead plaintiffs are Deb and Susan Whitewood, of Bridgeville, who are joined as litigants by their two daughters, Abbey, 16, and Katie, 14.

The ACLU and the Philadelphia law firm of Hangley Aronchick Segal Pudlin & Schiller are filing the complaint in U.S. District Court in Harrisburg in an effort to have the state's Defense of Marriage Act declared unconstitutional. That act defines marriage as between a man and a woman, and bars Pennsylvania from recognizing same sex marriages entered into in other states.

Yep. This area is far too Redneck Catholic to fork over what they demand voluntarily. Gotta use the Courts to cram it down our throats.

More clear evidence that the ACLU is not about liberty--and never really has been. The times when they take a case, with genuine libertarian aspects, are only to mask their 93 year old track record of systematically undermining the institutions of a free people.

Our States were originally settled by people seeking to live in communities where there was agreement on moral & religious principles. The Constitution, wisely recognizing the cultural differences among the States, gave the Central Government (Executive, Legislative & Judicial) no role in what are called the "Police Powers," which deal with the health, safety & morals of communities.

The ACLU has been waring on traditional Western religious principles throughout its history. It started out, as a Fabian organization, by taking a very gradual approach--one that was not offensive to most people. They championed the right of dissenters not to participate in public affirmations of devotion. Harmless & admittedly fair. But gradually, as they conditioned susceptible Judges to look not to the written Constitution, but to evolving judicial interpretations, the attack morphed into a war on Faith in America.

Now, their attack has embraced not only Faith & traditional values, but reality itself. It is certainly time that people woke up about this group. (And see, Leftwing Word Games & Religious Freedom.)

One other thought on this suit. It makes one wonder if the Court selected, happens to be that of a recent appointee?

The point is obvious, if that is the case.

We will lose this. Anthony Kennedy has set the legal bar at opposing gay marriage being a blatant form of bigotry.

So the attack of the perverts begins on Pennsylvania and its citizens.
Fight back PA. Stand your ground.
