Emanuel calls special Council session on assault weapons ban
Chicago Sun -Times ^ | 09 july 2013

Mayor Rahm Emanuel is calling a special Council meeting for July 17 to consider his companion plans to update and strengthen Chicago’s assault weapons ban and impose stiffer penalties for gun crimes committed near schools, on buses and along “Safe Passage” routes.

“The state has given us a deadline to pass a new assault weapon ban, and next week I will call a special session to make sure we get it done,” Emanuel said in a written statement. “These dangerous weapons can wreak havoc in a matter of minutes as we have seen too often on our streets. They have no place in our city, and we’ll do whatever is necessary to make sure we have a strong law in place.”

The special meeting will be only the second since Emanuel took office in May 2011. The other was to approve a new Chicago ward map, which is now the subject of a federal court challenge.

The little ballerina man needs to grow a pair and go after the chicago gangs, until then it's all BS.

Gotta be some really baggy pants to hide a AR in, but surely this is the answer to Chicago’s murder rate.

Meanwhile, punk groups roving the streets of Chicago bashing anyone unfortunate enough to get in their way, go unaddressed near schools, on buses, and along special routes.

Never mind the fact there are a fair number of people employed by gun manufacturers in the state of IL.

I'd bet dollars-to-doughnuts that the number of Chicago homicides committed with revolvers utilizing mid 19th Century technology exceeds the number committed with so-called "assault weapons".

(Dazzle Chicago voters with more meaningless, ineffective laws and hope that they don't notice that you are failing to perform your job until after the next election.)

Chicago has the equivalent of Sandy Hook about every 15 days or so. Over the last year, how many of those occured with "assault weapons" (cue spooky music) I wonder?

Because Gun Control is working so well for Chicago so far.

I’d say the ballerina is an assault weapon aimed at the general populace.

Yeah, that’ll work.

And one wonders which marshmallow courses Rahm dork-O-well breezed through in school.

I also love his wording: sounds like assault weapons roam the streets of the cities in Illinois looking to pick fights.

I guess we made the big leap in Artificial Intelligence and immediately made them angry and put them in assault weapons.

Armalite is in Genesio IL. About 100 miles from Chicago. There hasn’t been a murder there in over 25 years.

I'd be willing to bet that the number of homicides commited by fists and feet in ChiTown exceed the number by Modern Sporting Rifle.

Tell me more about these “safe passage” routes and how well they are working.

Rahm really knows how to create a good distraction so that people won’t be talking about his failures.

55 people die in Egypt where they are armed with RPGs, explosives and machine guns and they call it a bloodbath. 75 die over the weekend in gun free Chicago and they call for more gun control.

Obama and Effemuell's policies are officially less effective than a piss-ant third world jihad state.

Hey Rahm!

Why don’t you figure out how to enforce your current gun laws and put those criminals away, before moving on to disarm law abiding citizens?

Leaving citizens defenseless only emboldens the criminals.

Here in Cook county, Chicago the successful prosecution rate for gun crimes is roughly 4-6 percent.
Communities have been organized to keep their mouths shut because one can’t cooperate with “the man” and retain street cred.

Of all the gun murders committed since Emanuel became mayor in Chicago how many have been committed with a real assault weapon or even simiauto clones of assault weapons?

How many so-called assault weapons are used by the bad guys?
I venture to say, hardly any. Why not run a sweep through
the tough neighborhoods of Chicago?

This continuation of the “Assault-Weapon” Scam illustrates why the gun grabbers keep on pushing it – without a set definition of an “Assault-Weapon”, they can use the scam to get every and all guns or weapons they want banned and confiscated.
