Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), who has hinted he could mount a 2016 presidential bid, is already taking shots at his potential competition in the Republican primary.
The freshman senator was asked Monday night during an appearance on Fox News about Texas Gov. Rick Perry's (R) announcement he would not seek reelection — a move that has prompted speculation that Perry could again run for the White House.
“If Gov. Perry decides to run for president, I think there would be three good reasons why he could be president: Texas is a big successful state, he’s a long term governor and … I can’t remember the other one,” Paul quipped.
The joke was a reference to Perry's disastrous performance in a November 2011 GOP presidential debate, in which he was unable to remember the third federal agency he wanted to eliminate.
"Commerce, Education and the — what's the third one there? Let's see," Perry said at the time.
Perry later acknowledged the gaffe — telling CBS News that he "stepped in it" — but his campaign was never able to recover. He later endorsed Newt Gingrich for the Republican nomination ahead of the South Carolina primary.
I’ve had similar experiences. For all their bluster, they’re no friend of conservatism.
I personally never thought what Perry did was that atrocious, mountain out of a molehill. And I watched those first 3 debates, about all of them. It was hard to fathom that that one line basically sunk him.

Those are jokes with no harm intend for another. Not so with Rand.
So don't try to white wash him like the MSM does for Maher and/or 'their own kind'. This is more proof there isn't much difference between the GOP and the 'rats - both low level.
A general response here, if Paul runs, we will find out darn well what he stands for.
He and Cruz are close to the same age but Cruz seems to have the wisdom of ages while Rand often still comes off as a green horn.
Rand is a pro-lifer and has pushed his petition to make personhood an amendment to the constitution: http://nationalprolifealliance.com/tpfh_petition.aspx?pid=1130 and thus, according to Rand, the unborn would then have 14th amendment rights.
He has also said Libertarians want to smoke pot and walk around naked, websearch that and you will find it. He calls himself a “Constitutional Conservative.”
But I think he has dropped the ball on immigration whereas Cruz, Bachmann, Palin have not though let’s not forget, Rand Paul voted against the Senate Immigration Bill, so that is a bit of a redeeming value.
What can one say about these people who say “You secured the border first” (90%), then we will talk about a pathway-to-citizenship.
I may not agree with this totally but since so many have come out on this and seem to buy the notion that Republicans lost the Pres. Election because of Hispanics, I myself am willing to give some leeway on this. Governor Walker also walked back his position on this.
May we supply them both with flamethrowers and let them duel this out in a concrete handball court?
POS Romney was the golden boy with the media - that’s why it sunk him.
But Rand Paul did not vote for the Senate Bill.
To be honest, I want to know too if Perry is any better on the issue. I’ve heard conflicting stories from his supporters and opponents on the matter.
I didn’t say a word about Romney, maybe you are talking to another poster.
He said he wanted to build the fence immediately and Newt had said they both were working on how to get it done once Perry dropped out and Newt still had plans on winning. But POS LIAR Romney poured out his wrath on conservative Newt on Bloody Thursday with Drudge’s help.

I could support Perry but its getting more and more unlikely I could support Paul in 2016.

Sorry if I offended you with bringing up POS Romney but I detest LIBERALS as they are for same sex marriage and abortions, etc. And they fight conservatives and hand this country over to evil but that is what evil does!

Maybe he saw the flak Rubio was getting...who knows? Regardless, he openly advocated for it; he's not trustworthy.
Also, re:your post #45---Hispanics overwhelmingly support Democratic issues and vote for Dem candidates. There was a thread here which showed that they are no more likely to vote for Rubio than they were before he made a fool of himself over amnesty. Also, I believe Scott Walker denies that he backtracked on the issue.
