BREAKING Knife Story: Asiana Passengers Almost Burned To Death Waiting For Box Cutters
The Truth About Knives ^ | July 8, 2013 | Chris Dumm

Posted on 07/10/2013 7:53:21 AM PDT by george76

Reports indicate that passengers aboard crashed Asiana Flight 214 were trapped by their seatbelts while the Boeing 777 burned around them. If only someone had a knife to cut them free, even a small pocketknife…

But nobody had any kind of knife, because knives aren’t allowed on flights that land or originate in the United States. So what happened?

...

police officers on the ground threw utility knives up to crew members so they could cut the seat belts of those who remained trapped as rescue crews removed the injured.

You read that correctly: passengers were trapped in the burning wreckage, and they had to wait until police showed up with box cutters to cut them free from their seats.

Thanks to the TSA’s absurd ‘No Knives On Planes’ rule, hysterically defended by the Air Waitress union, nobody on flight 214 had a sharp rescue tool to cut them free. How many of them would have burned alive if police and firefighters hadn’t showed up within minutes? What would the Air Waitresses have said then? You’ll notice that they’re saying nothing right now.

A bit off topic but in the early ‘70s (73 if memory serves) there was a mid ar collision on approach to NAS Moffett Field between a VP-47 P-3C and a NASA aircraft. Both planes subsequently came to rest as smoking messes on the municipal golf course just off the approach end to the airfield. There was miraculously one survivor, a junior enlisted aircrew man that had been an aft observer on the P-3. He was found later under a parachute canopy that had deployed as a result of the impact. He had been run over by one of the crash-rescue trucks responding to the mess. As a result of being run over, his spine was severed and was, presumably still is a paraplegic. Stuff like that happens in the chaos of an aircraft disaster. It wasn’t me thank God, but it was one of our aircraft and the kid was a shipmate.

They were all shipmates. Hadn’t thought about that in a long time.

When I have time I will try to research it.
I simply can’t believe something as simplee seatbelt fastening and un fastening is not addressed as a basic safety requirement.

I did consider maybe in a panic people wouldn’t remember how to pull the latch but responders could

VERY strange happening

I am pretty sure that was sarcasm.
Or at least I took it as sarcasm

its funny how after sandy hook they scream “gun control” despite the fact illegally attained guns were used. Yet you never hear them yell “muslim control” after boston, or fort hood or 9-11 or the ‘93 bombings or the failed times square bomber or the failed underwear bomber....

I believe those same videos showed passengers evacuating the plane with their carryon baggage. How stupid is that?

Not stupid at all, knowing that anything left behind would never be seen again either because of fire or theft. Would you leave your laptop or other valuables (that you were loath to leave in your checked luggage) behind if there was any chance of getting them out with you? Suppose you had prescription drugs or other medical supplies with you? Do you think the airline or TSA would replace them?

I’d probably grab my bag. It’s easy enough to carry, isn’t going to cost anybody else time, and I’d rather not have my stuff burned.

Of course, I carry my stuff under my seat, not in the overhead.

There should be a pocket on the seat belt with one of those in it.

Quick, PATENT it!!! Then get it written into FAA regulations.

That's how it's done these days. (sigh)

Well, maybe not as stupid as it may seem. Without papers they would have been sunk.

You see, our immigration laws are only “broken” for obastard’s people. They still apply and are enforced for just about everyone else.

Law enforcement is all subject to prosecutorial discretion now you know. Wet backs and black panthers always go free. Customs agents, whites and others are jailed and maybe eventually charged with something.

Airplane seatbelt buckles are profoundly simple.

How can they possibly not unlatch?

Real hard with busted clavicles...spinal swelling and rupture...yer guts all twisted...and prolly broken arms, wrists, and fingers, too....I reckon????

If the passengers on the aircraft were that badly injured, there would have been a lot more than two dead.

I would guess that the impact jarred some seats, jamming the belts and buckles.

Costs all of $5

You can probably get them at the $1 store. That means they are made in China for about 25 cents.
