It’s not so much that he thinks he’s above the law as that he thinks he is the law.
The duties of the President of the United States are spelled out in Article II, Section 3 of the Constitution, which states, inter alia, that the President “shall take Care that the laws be faithfully executed.” As Stanford Law Professor and former federal judge Michael McConnell explained in yesterday’s Wall Street Journal, “This is a duty, not a discretionary power. While the president does have substantial discretion about how to enforce a law, he has no discretion about whether to do so.”
Section 1513(d) of the Unaffordable Care Act (aka “Obamacare”) states unequivocally, “The amendments made by this section shall apply to months beginning after December 31, 2013.” In other words, the provisions of Obamacare become fully effective in 2014, as a matter of duly enacted federal law.

Why is nobody taking on the president on this issue of delaying the employer mandate of Obamacare?
The start date is written into the law. Yet the MSM dutifully reports that the start will be delayed, and there is no follow up on any of this. The president does not have the authority to do this, yet apparently he will be allowed to get away with it.
If he were to be challenged in court (which would be the only remedy), the challenge and subsequent appeals would take more than a year to resolve and by then the delay will have expired.
Quick, let’s call the DoJ and the AG.

Well, if a court challenge is unrealistic, at least the media should report that this is an illegal move on the part of the president. It might not change anything but it would bring to light that the president is ignoring his own signature achievement.
I would love to see the president be asked about this at a press conference. The reporter asking the question better have their taxes in order, as they will face an IRS audit.
Comedians such as Jon Stewart would also roundly ridicule any Republican president who did this. Of course, Jon Stewart and Letterman and all the rest will be silent about their hero Obama doing anything illegal.

Barbara Waters said he had info on everyone and he surely used it on Roberts. The other are frightened.
The Republicans are weak and spineless and allow themselves to be bullied by the corrupt MSM.
At his inauguration, Obama recited the Oath of office: “I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”
He must have mumbled an addendum under his breath:
“Unless doing so will hurt me or my party politically.”
If we had a Republican leadership with any balls Obama would be brought up on articles of impeachment for dereliction of duty.

I think the answer -- sad as it may be -- is that (1) those large employers (i.e., those with 50 or more employees) who stand to benefit from this "delay" don't want to rock the boat; while, on the other hand, (2) Obamacare supporters have no interest in calling in the artillery on the their own position by objecting and thus highlighting what a fiasco the PPACA is turning out to be.
Strange bedfellows.

Jim: “The president’s repeated violation of the law requiring him to submit a budget no later than the first Monday in February?”

Jim: “The 2012 vote where 115% of all registered voters in some counties voted 100% for Obama?”

“Jim: “The president’s unconstitutional recess appointments in an attempt to circumvent the Senate’s advise-and-consent role?”

Jim: “The State Department interfering with an Inspector General investigation on departmental sexual misconduct?”

Jim: “HHS employees being given insider information on Medicare Advantage?”
Bob: “No, the other one.”
Jim: “Clinton, the IRS, Clapper and Holder all lying to Congress?”

If he gets to choose which laws he’ll enforce, do we get to choose which laws we follow?
