DENVER A federal judge will not block a new Colorado state law that limits the size of ammunition magazines to less than 15 rounds.
Judge Marcia Krieger told both parties Wednesday morning that she cant issue an injunction because the law already is in effect.
Attorneys representing the plaintiffs, some 55 Colorado sheriffs who opposes the law, worked out an agreement Tuesday night with attorneys for Gov. John Hickenlooper, a Democrat who signed off on the new laws in March, to amend a technical guidance from the Attorney General on how to enforce the law so its more specific about what is and is not legal.
Upon hearing about the deal, Krieger stepped back and told the attorneys that they didnt need her to grant an injunction because theyd apparently worked things out.
The relatively short proceeding is just the warm-up for the more serious legal fight by the sheriffs to overturn the law itself. In their view, it violates the Second Amendment right for citizens to keep and bear arms.
The new law bans magazines that hold more than 15 rounds.

We all know it’s most probably a libjudge...an extremely simple life form incapable of reading law or using logic.
And - given the present state of Denver (and its associated Obamahole village - Boulder), the ruling is entirely expected.
Pet peeve - using the phrase “high capacity” when the accurate term should be “normal capacity”. A 100 round Surefire AR-15 magazine is arguably a high capacity magazine, but a 20 round AR-15 magazine is not, given that it was what was originally designed for use with the rifle.
Recent lesson taught in America-
Don’t expect idiot judges to rescue you from idiot laws passed by idiot reps voted in by idiot voters.
Libs can almost always find a judge to issue at least a temporary injuction to “study the issue”. Why can’t Repubs?
There is good and valid reason why a huge part of the population have absolute disgust and disdain for most practicing lawyers and judges and lawyers who are elected to public office.
There are always slimy ways for them to twist the law to their advantage or to fit their agenda and most are eager to use every one they can.
Even at the highest level, the Supreme Court, they slither through loopholes or avoid enforcing the law and constitution on the slimmest of technicalities, real, newly discovered or plucked from thin air for the occasion.
I’ve often wondered that myself
Anti-gun nonsense - from Colorado, of all places.
This is what happens when your state becomes “Calipornicated”!
In the last 15 years, Colorado has gone from mostly red to mostly blue. 15 years ago, Colorado had a Republican governor, 2 Republican Senators, and a 4(R)/2(D) split in Representatives.
Now: Democratic governor, 2 Democratic Senators, and a 4(R)/3(D) split in Representatives. How times change... :-(
