George Zimmerman’s defense team rested its case Wednesday, after using its final day of testimony to paint the neighborhood watch volunteer as a wimp who was getting pummeled when he shot Trayvon Martin in self-defense, at one point commandeering a mannequin introduced by prosecutors in order to re-enact its version of the fight. The judge got in one last lick asking if George Z was going to testify. The judgE is out of order on this item and this shows the prejudice of the judge.

"Hope the jury comes back within 10 minutes. 15 max."

There is still the prosecutions rebuttal witnesess, defense sur-rebuttal, closing arguments and final instructions to go through before the Jury retires to deliberate. They won't start deliberations until tomorrow at the earliest.

The defense may rest, but the jury does not begin deliberations until both sides have given their closing summary arguments. That will likely be tomorrow.

Of course, this should have never gone to trial in the first place. Self defense is just that.

In spite of George Zimmerman's vote for Obama, which he must now regret, he appears to be a good, decent man. I hope he's now seen the errors of liberalism and will join the Conservative movement to restore traditional American values.

This case is so open and shut if this jury has an IQ above 10 they should be back with a Not Guilty verdict in 5 minutes..if they are borderline stupid it will take them longer but this should have never been brought to trial..race baiters like the DOJ and Jackson and Sharpton wanted it

If the jury was not present when she asked, she wasn't out of order. There have been criminal cases where a defendant didn't testify, was convicted, and then argued on appeal that "my lawyer didn't let me testify." So it's not uncommon for the trial judge to ask the defendant personally if he wants to testify, to preclude that kind of later argument.

Several factors:

(1) The prosecution has very little evidence to offer, period.

(2) The defense was not allowed to offer much evidence because of judicial interference.

(3) If you are guilty, you file motion after motion to delay a verdict. If you are not guilty, you do not engage in stalling tactics.

Prosecution has a couple of witnesses to rebut testimony from defense before this is over. It may all be over shortly.

Zimmerman is going to prison for a long time. Obama, Holder, Florida Governor Scott have invested too much time and effort for this not to happen.

Give the leftist media its due. It's worked long and hard promulgating lies and misrepresentations in its quest to see Zimmerman behind bars for using a gun to defend himself against an unarmed, black, street thug wannabe.

I can understand how Obama and Holder will fight for injustice. It's part and parcel of their very nature and is reflected in the entire corrupt cabal they've put into place.

But I don't get how Florida Governor Rick Scott is involved. From afar (here in Texas), he seems to embrace Conservative and Christian values. If that's so, how can he be on board with George Zimmerman being jailed?

Perhpas there's a lawyer here who can give us an opinion on whether there are grounds for appeal in case of a guilty verdict.

My fear: The jury will convict on the lesser charge of manslaughter, unaware of the fact that in Florida manslaughter of a minor carries virtually the same sentence as second degree murder.

This Judge is showing a clear animus towards the defendant and displays her cowardice by not dismissing the charges. Any competent Judge would dismiss the case and excoriate the prosecution for wasting the taxpayers money on this trial. Who can say all doubt is dispelled and guilt has been established? What an absolute injustice this has been to Zimmerman.

If she asked that with the jury present, she was WAY out of line, and probably committed reversible error.

He listened to his incompetent AG Pam Bondi and appointed a special prosecutor who is essentially a political animal. He should have let local authorities handle this as they would have any other potential crime, but he bowed to political and media pressure instead.
