Posted on 07/10/2013 2:50:55 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet
George Mason University (GMU) is set to offer a three-credit course on Florida youth Trayvon Martin this fall but in the online description of the course misspelled his name as Trevon Martin."
The class, officially entitled Race & Politics, Trevon [sic] Martin in the course catalogue will be taught by Professor Rutledge Dennis of the Sociology and Anthropology Department.
Martin was shot in February 2012 after an altercation with a neighborhood watch member, George Zimmerman, who is currently the subject of a murder trial.
The trial, being held in Florida, has been racially charged due to questions over Zimmermans motivations. Zimmerman stated late Wednesday he would not provide testimony, with the jury set to issue a decision later this month.
Dennis will teach the GMU course in a lecture/seminar style on Wednesdays in two and half hour blocks from 4:30-7:10 in Krug Hall on GMUs main campus.
Professor Dennis and other GMU representatives did not respond to requests for comment by Campus Reform in time for publication.
This moron will probably base his entire premise on Zimmerman being “white”.
That's retarded, sir.
How do you think I feel? I am a professor at George Mason!
Sometimes you just have to laugh or you will cry. Alas, I feel that urge at least once daily.
Is the professor going to mention that burglaries in the neighborhood stopped after Trayvon was shot?
I’m at Virginia Tech. I feel your pain.
Gonna hurry on over and audit that one ?
(seriesly, condolences ;^)
Probably misspelled on purpose to not conflict with the mom’s taking out copywrites or whatever for trademark’s trademark. otherwise, they’d have to pay royalties to the mom.
Gotta keep those black professors busy teaching BS courses
Rutledge M. Dennis is Professor of Sociology and Anthropology. He received a B.A. in Social Science and Sociology from South Carolina State University, and the M.A. and Ph.D in sociology from Washington State University. Prior to joining the George Mason faculty he was the first Director of African American Studies at Virginia Commonwealth University(Richmond, Virginia) where he taught for twenty one years, three of which were spent as Associate Chair of the Department of Sociology/Anthropology.
His teaching and research interests include the sociology of ideas, theoretical sociology, political sociology, race and ethnic studies, urban communities, and the sociology of W.E.B. Du Bois. He is the editor, co-editor, and co-author of nine books in the areas of urban annexations (with John Moeser), research methods in race and ethnicity (with John Stanfield), black intellectuals, W.E.B.Du Bois, the middle class, race and ethnic politics, comparative and theoretical approaches to race and ethnicity (with John Stone), marginality, bi-culturalism, and Booker T. Washington, and social science perspectives on Afro-Americans (with Charles Jarmon).
How much money will the parents get for use of Trayvon’s nam? Maybe that is why they misspelled his name?
He got an upgrayeDD with a double D for a double-dose of big pimpin’...
Punks like Tray are killing people in my old hometown every day. Day after day...robberies, killings and 95% are black.
Here is how students rated the professors classes:
I bet this professor admonished his university for racism when they replaced their old blackboards with the new whiteboards.
“taught by Professor Rutledge Dennis of the Sociology and Anthropology Department.....”
Hopefully his job is secure because I can’t see him qualified for anything in the private sector.
Why is everything a symbol and nothing is just what it is?
Zim vs Martin became a symbol of evil Whitey attacking innocent minority.
It’s exactly the opposite of the reality.
And students will pay for it with college loans. Great investment in their future.
George Zimmermans Black Ancestry is Revealed
George Zimmerman: the black, Hispanic, Peruvian, kind-hearted non-white, not-racist poster boy
George Zimmerman Has Black Roots
Wow - I had thought, erroneously I guess, that GMU was relatively sane by American university standards. After all, doesn’t Thomas Sowell teach there?
If you spell the name correctly, then you don’t have the prerequisite for the course
Oops I was thinking of Walter Williams. I guess that proves I’m racis’.
Baraq Obama is as white as George Zimmerman is.
Any chance you audit the class? You might be able to sell the story to Breitbart.
That’s what I was thinking, can the ‘professor’ write in script because ‘his’ students can’t read it. I’d like to take the class and let it all out and sue them for denying me a good grade and then charge the students for me educating them. ;) But my time is more valuable than to teach those who are unteachable. I feel uncomfortable even joking when my heart is heavy for Zimmerman.
That my friend is a racist commie.
If I lived in the area I would sign up for this class.
I don’t care if I got an F-minus, but that Professor and his students would be exposed to an alternate reality. Possibly I would be dragged out of there by the campus police.
Leftist professor trying to make a living out of nothing. If another black teenager had shot Trayvon Martin, you never would have heard about it.
No "possibly" about it
No "possibly" about it
Sorry about that, overly sensitive keyboard on my llllllaptopppp.
Bet you're right.
Pinto: What are you majoring in?
Brunella: Primitive cultures.
Friend of mine works with an SC State alum. Says one of the guy’s main goals in life was to do well enough so his children would never have to go near SC State. They ended up going to name schools and doing well.
SC State is always in danger of losing it’s accreditation. The news reports how and why then we hear nothing more on the issue which somehow solved itself. Then a few years later, the news reports that their accreditation is on the hot seat again. This has been going on for decades.
Intentional misspelling also defeats web search features so they can sneak it in under the radar.
Any parent, or student, who would pay tuition for such a "course" has at least a screw loose.
Of course many of the pathetic students who will sit in this prof's classroom are getting their "education" paid for by Pell grants and other taxpayer-funded freebies.
You crazy-___ cracker!
You are? Wow, my son is starting there in the fall in your Masters program. IF we can somehow manage to get him there with this economy of ours.
