A challenge to Michigan's constitutional ban on same-sex marriage brought by a suburban Detroit couple could be decided as early as October, a federal judge in Detroit said on Wednesday.
April DeBoer and Jayne Rowse, who have lived together for more than six years and have three adopted children, are challenging the ban along with a state law that prevents them from jointly adopting their children.
In the wake of last month's ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court's throwing out a key part of the Defense of Marriage Act, which barred same-sex couples from federal marriage benefits, gay couples in several states that do not allow same-sex marriage have brought fresh legal challenges in federal courts.

That would be the best idea.
There won’t be any social security when I die so that isn’t an issue. I don’t have any money to leave so basically its the house and personal belongings and I can legally leave those to the wife.
Notice that the test cases feature plantiffs that are typically lesbians with some sort of artificially constructed family.
These cases never feature gay plantiffs that are straight out of a San Francisco leather bar.
The liberal litigants always hide the truth.
You can’t say the federal government has no standing in this issue, and then turn around and say the federal government has standing in this issue.
They’ll try, but if they’re paying attention they’ll figure out pretty quickly that a) supreme court has already ruled on this and b) that rules the day.
Marriage license laws should be rejected now that we are ruled by Judicial tyrants. I don’t need a license to get married. God is my witness! Not these bureaucrats who recognize a perversion of the ceremony.
BOYCOTT THE GOVERNMENT!
As I understand it, Christians in muslim countries often aren’t legally married because sharia law doesn’t recognize it. They’re still just as married in God’s eyes and in the eyes of their families and friends.
Christians need to start separating themselves from this web that libtards have constructed.
Gee, I wonder how 0bama’s court system will rule on this </s>
Well, we can also thank Reagan, since he gave us the man who will impose gay marriage on the entire nation.
Well the race is on now to see which state marriage amendment makes it to the Sup Court first. Whether its North Carolina, or Michigan, or one of about 30 others, it really doesn’t matter. Sadly though, it will be the doing of a Republican appointed judge that gives us a Roe decision for gay marriage. Sure Obama’s judges are horrible, but that’s to be expected. But had Reagan not screwed up with Kennedy, and Bush with Souter, then we might have 6 conservatives on the Sup Court today (I think Roberts would be less likely to stray if he couldn’t be a swing vote).
Anthony Kennedy has already told us how he will vote on the issue. There is simply no way he will issue a correct ruling in favor of states’ rights to handle the issue. His arrogant, holier-than-thou, living Constitution decision against DOMA leads inevitably to striking down every traditional state marriage law and amendment. In fact, a district and appellate court will likely strike down a state marriage amendment using Kennedy’s DOMA decision as the basis.
The one hope conservatives had was for the Sup Court to do the right thing and leave it to the states. For those states that refused to embrace gay marriage, I always thought it would be economic coercion (e.g. Google refusing to open a new facility in ‘a state that hates’) that finally brought them to their knees. But that won’t be necessary.
Now there is no hope. The only question is whether or not John Roberts will join Kennedy and make it a 6-3 decision.
