Relieving yourself outside the comfort of your own bathroom will give even the overly confident some understandable anxiety. But for transgender people, it's more than just nerve-racking, it's dangerous, according to a survey released this week.
The survey, published in the Journal of Public Management and Social Policy, found that 70 percent of responders have been denied entrance, were harassed or assaulted when attempting to use a public restroom of their identifying gender.
And it's no surprise that these traumatic experiences affect the daily life of transgender people, the survey points out. More than half of respondents reported having physical problems, including dehydration or kidney infections, because they "held it" to avoid using public bathrooms.
More than half also said they have skipped leaving the house because they didn't feel safe in public, the study says.
In addition, more than 25 percent of respondents say they experience problems using bathrooms at work, which, in some cases, was the reason they left or changed jobs. About 10 percent of respondents who attend school reported having excessive absence rates or dropped out.
Although the survey focuses on the Washington D.C. population, researchers say the problems could be more widespread as transgender people become more visible.
The Transgender Law Center found similar results in San Francisco when it completed a a similar survey in 2002. Herman said she is not sure how much has changed in the City, however this problems seem to occurring nationwide.
"Just because it took place in D.C. doesn't meant they aren't having those problems elsewhere," she said.
The survey concluded that cities should adopt laws that explicitly give transgender people legal protection in bathrooms. Additionally, it recommends creating unisex bathrooms to avoid the problem altogether.
What am I saying! Those fools on the Left would actually love to do it! NEVER make an absurd joke to those people! It just gives them ideas.
Few of these people are "post-op". Sex-change surgery (except to correct birth defects) is actually quite rare in the United States. I'm not even sure if there are any surgeons here who perform it. The hippocratic oath generally prohibits performing surgery on physically healthy people. Those serious about sex-change operations have to go overseas.
No, when we talk of "transgender people" 99% of the time we're talking about men (with all their plumbing intact) who wear women's clothing and demand we address them as women, including to allow them to use those public restrooms reserved for our wives and daughters.

Transgenders should just forgo using public restrooms, as they have rejected the choices available in natures coin toss.
There is a reason that we have gender specific restrooms and we cannot deal with providing restrooms for 15 different genders.

I am a woman. If a man dressed as a woman came into a ladies’ room it is not likely that the women present would even know, as we have stalls and not urinals. Only case I can think of is if he was the height of a professional basketball player and was standing to relieve himself. But I would assume that these disturbed men would sit down to do such.
To avoid being treated like a clown, they might try not looking like a clown.
But on the other hand, why bother to have separate restrooms for men and women?

Back in the 1960s, my father traveled to France. One of his many culture shocks was using a men’s lavatory that had a woman as a steward.
I've never gotten a real definition of it that doesn't sound like a mental issue (and not in the way that people say "he likes guys? is he mental?").
"Transgender" doesn't mean (or doesn't only mean?) having had surgery. I'm told that people identify with one gender or the other, so they dress that way. I hear this, and I'm thinking "Corporal Klinger" or that female impersonator from "All in the Family". But, no, it depends on how they *feel*, which could change on a given day.
Now, sorry, but anyone who doesn't know what gender they are should not be indulged in some weird delusion. They need help because they have issues of some kind.
My father was stationed in France in the US Army in World War I. He was disgusted that a French woman sat on a toilet next to him and tried to sell him candy.

The opposite happened with me. I was used to the Mens Room always being on the left in every Wal-Mart I had been in. We were on vacation and stopped to get some item, and I hit the restrooms, not bothering to read the sign. Once inside, I had a "Goll-ee, Capn Jim, there's no urinals in here. WTF?" moment.
Then it hit me and I came boiling out of the place, wide eyed in panic. Wifey was just coming over and noticed my hurried exit and had her own Moment. When I told her what happened, she went into hysterics.
So much for compassion. :-)

And some of these so-called transgendered people still have all their equipment, not done the surgery etc, but just dress up like women. IOW, they could still rape if they so desire.
One thing the homo agenda and their pet leftists have done is substitute the word “gender” (which relates to grammar) instead of the good old word “sex”.
And it is a horrible mental illness/sexual perversion and at least one big hospital that used to do “sex change” operations quit doing it because the doctors finally admitted that the whole trannie thing is a mental illness and the people after the “gender reassignment” surgery were even more miserable than before.
These freaks seek insult and push themselves and their perversion and sickness in peoples’ faces and then complain when the people go “eeewwwww”!
Transgendered (so called) people get surgery - castration and often breast implants - usually have to have other surgery as well, such as facial surgery, reduction of adam’s apple and so on. Also they have to take female hormones for the rest of their lives.
But now there’s an entire spectrum of this vile perversion/sickness so some don’t get any surgery/etc at all but just dress up as women (sometimes) and claim because they think they’re a woman, they get to be treated like on. Or men etc. Now kids are being dragged into this sickening stew of perversion and mental illness.
It’s freaking insane.
I mentioned this at my choir practice this morning, and one of the girls said she and her boyfriend had each entered the wrong-sex bathroom and realized it while washing their hands!
