I've known Dr Sam since we were Majors together in the Pentagon. You will not find a more constitutional conservative in the Nation.

Nice resume there. I could support somebody like this financially from another state.

I can tell you Sam is the real deal. Don’t know how great of a campaigner he is, but position wise he is excellent.

Orange City is a Dutch Reformed community (think William of Orange, the nobleman primarily responsible for securing Dutch independence as a Protestant nation). It is a college community so it is a bit less strictly conservative than some parts of Northwest Iowa, but that whole region is a center of the “social conservative” segment of Iowa voters.

Between the Reformed Church in America, Christian Reformed Church, United Reformed Churches, and smaller bodies like the Protestant Reformed and Netherlands Reformed, this is a place where being tall, blond, and Dutch Reformed is important, and where making a good impression as a candidate on one “VanderSomething” can easily result in hundreds of other relatives, friends, and church members agreeing to vote for you.

Can you tell us something about Dr. Clovis’ positions on social conservative issues?

I did some quick research. I like at least some of what I see and I would like to know more.

Key links:

Articles by Clovis on the Iowa Republican website: http://theiowarepublican.com/author/sam-clovis/

Two apparently insightful articles by the Des Moines Register and a northwest Iowa local television station on Clovis:
