To all the Freepers following these threads. I never meant to violate any norms of this fantastic site. Folks, this was an experiment and I apologize to all of you.

I never played football and I never hurt a flea. It is just very interesting to see, how many of you jump down the throat and personally attack another person's views for somehow being unfair and a little more rednecky than what you're used to.

I did say RIP to this kid who passed on and I was not trying to insult his memory but those that enjoy the ‘Glee Agenda’, which is where America is going in the guise of hyper-sensitivity and diversity, well then so be it. It makes us less capable of judging honestly as we can now see in the Zimmerman trial. Polarization and rage.

I am a tolerant individual and as said before, this was a test so I retract the negative bits. It does show however, how many of you overreact and almost immediately begin the personal assaults - and those of you who launched personal attacks - you call yourselves tolerant and open minded?

For some reason, my parents and church drilled it into me that you accepted other people for what they are, and Thank God I rarely, if too often, cast the stones against others who were “different”. Otherwise, I’d feel guilty as could be decades after high school.

Civility is a dying behavior, for sure, probably because of the decaying of the family, especially the family with God at its center. But it's also influenced by each new generation who grow up relating to each other digitally.

I recently went to a restaurant with a large group, both young and old. While waiting for a table, i noticed something VERY revealing: The middle-aged adults were talking to each other and laughing, while the younger 20-somethings were texting on their phones. TEN of them were all sitting next to each other, and all 10 were texting, ignoring the real-life person next to them! But back to the reason i first clicked the thread...

Prayers up for Cory Monteith's family and friends.

I was not a jock in HS, more a misfit. Jocks were certainly a favored class. I also used to be ambivalent to pro sports but I gave that up due to their grabbing into my wallet, so now I am full anti pro sports. Sports are a symptom of the trashing of US culture.

That said, my wife has watched Glee. I hate just passing through the room when that cr*p is on. I can empathize with wanting to hit something for that.

Never realized there were so many gay, woops, glee lovers on FR. I guess it is more diverse than I thought.
Flame resistent suit on!

Vive Le’ Difference.

That's fine. I guess Glee is more popular than I thought. Reminds me of FAME only kinder and gentler...

Didn’t have any idea who this kid was. Sorry to hear of anyone dying at 31.

Yep, about 8 years ago, my son-in-law died at age 32. Not a druggie though, he died of a heart attack. Especially tough on my daughter and their three kids.

I’m sorry to hear that. Life can be so very unfair. I hope one day we’ll understand.

Oh man, I’m very sorry to hear about that. How tragic!

No matter what, that leaves a hole in your daughter’s life that will never be filled completely. And as for the kids..., it will haunt them their whole lives.

I have things today that haunt me from my earliest days. They aren’t on my mind at all times obviously, but they are there. They creep in once in a while.

Take care bud.

Takeaway: It is offensive to not like Liberal metrosexuals and homosexuals.

So your takeaway is that every kid (limited to just the males only I presume?) who is not a jock; a kid who may actually like and prefer singing, or the theater, or the chess club, working on the yearbook, excelling at those talents, to playing football is automatically a Liberal metrosexual and or homosexual? Is that what you and Netz are saying?

My comment had nothing to do with pushing the homosexual agenda, that’s something completely different and something I am against. But in looking back to my school years and way long before any homosexual agenda, there were some kids, especially the guys who were not among the “jock” clique, the so called nerdy kids, the kids who were very skinny, or too fat, short, or un-muscular, the overly shy kids, the kids who were very bright academically and or had artistic talents; they got unmercifully teased and bullied by many of the jocks. They got “smeared as queers” when most of them were not homosexuals at all.

In fact not too many years ago I ran into a guy who I went to school with who was in the band, an outstanding trumpet player BTW who also sang in the choir, a straight A honor roll student, loved history and science and was extremely physically and socially awkward and shy and FWIW a deeply religious committed Christian. And it didn’t help him that he had a “funny” name – Quentin. Quentin was unmercifully bullied by not only the “jocks” but also by some of the girls who were either “jockettes” or part of the “cool, pretty and popular girl” clique. They were constantly calling him a queer – “Quentin the queer” and they did things like pulling cruel pranks on him, knocking him down, writing things on his locker, pretty much making his life miserable on a daily basis but Quentin just kept being Quentin; being a good kid and a good student.

I got sick of it and even though he sometimes came across as pompous and to me as a “know it all” in class and even rubbed me the wrong way sometimes, one day I stood up for him and then I was called a “queer lover” and a “lesbo”. FWIW, I was also a straight A honor roll student female student, was also in the band, in the jazz club, sang in the choir and was on the year book committee and on the school newspaper and the art club and worked with the theater club making props and painting backdrops and I certainly got my share of nasty comments from the “cool” kids and the “jocks” and especially from the “cool, pretty and popular girl” clique, I guess in part because unlike them, I wasn’t a slut who would drop my pants for any and every jock who wanted to get some. And most of them BTW; the jocks and the cool popular girls were “marginal” students at best.

Well Quentin, as shy and awkward as he was way back then, when I ran into him a few years ago, he had “blossomed” into a rather attractive man at 50+, was a very happily married father of four with several grandchildren and a very successful business owner and the holder of several manufacturing patents.

OTHO, I worked some years ago with the mother of one of the “cool, pretty and popular girls” from my HS who bullied me; her mother told me that after HS she got pregnant, dropped out of community college, didn’t marry the father, took up with a guy who was even worse than her first “baby daddy”, dropped a couple of more illegitimate kids by different fathers , got into drugs and at that time was serving yet another jail sentence for dealing meth. I bet she doesn’t look so cute anymore.

I am reminded of the movie “Idiocracy” where the rare person who reads and writes and speaks in an ordinary voice sound pompous and “faggy” to the rest of them.

My total view of this situation is very simple. Agree or disagree, as you wish, but please understand my simple position:

“Glee” is homosexual propaganda. Nothing more, nothing less. The TV show named “Glee” is homosexual propaganda. I’m not focused on anything broader than that. You can support the homosexual propaganda, or you can not support the homosexual propaganda. I note that on Free Republic, those of us who do not support the homosexual propaganda get attacked pretty darn quick. Names are called. Words get put in our mouths. Baseless accusations are made. All because we do not support the homosexual agenda.

That’s all I’m saying.

Dear MD Expat in PA.
I cannot speak for others, only myself.
Judging by your exceptionally long missive, you have a lot on your chest to purge.

There is a line between how we educate our kids and how we function on the planet. Jocks tended to be unpleasant folks, not all, but a select few. People were always and will always be teased for being different

Bullying is universal unfortunately. It is not limited to the American High School experience.
It exists in schools, on the playing field and between nations and castes.
It is part of human survival and it is demonstrated in nature as well.
There is not a lot that can be done about it. No amount of “Diversity Training” will solve it but maybe, it helps but when it becomes a driven agenda then we are in trouble because then it becomes MANDATED and forced. Today, TV and popular entertainment is trying to change how we think, to accept the other and that's fine but it is part of an overall agenda. Like it or not it is part of integrating the LGBT into mainstream.

Some say it's a good thing, others of us would prefer that it not be mandated and made what it is, a choice.

We all knew bullies and victims and all the (what the British term) mollycoddling of kids growing up will only make them less prepared to deal with a difficult and complex world. The key word here is is DEALING with crisis, problems and challenges and the more we soften it and put sugar on it the more difficult it will be in managing in the world.
The current US administration is a true reflection of what we have become and where we are going and this kind of conditioning starts at home, it starts in the schools and this is the link.
Today, America is a laughing stock of the world because her world view is sheltered, protected and softened for consumption. It is no mistake, that a soft, flexible reset, diverse, young President extended his hand in naive friendship to major players in the world only to have it all backfire on him and they have no respect for him because he is coming from this naive, softened world view. That is the link. From HS bullying to Foreign policy, one dovetails the other. In short, we need to toughen up, not by bullying but learning to see the world as it truly is and DEAL WITH IT. That's what we all had to do growing up, DEAL WITH IT and not fall back on some Glee Type softness. There is a clear line between how we educate our kids to deal with life (which is not Glee world) and then end result of running the nation and dealing with Foreign powers.

I don’t watch Glee, will not watch Glee. I don’t support the homosexual agenda. What I was commenting on was the a-hole who claimed to have been a football player who wanted to punch the lights out of ALL the kids in the glee club, on the year book, etc. without any reference to their sexuality.

That’s all I’m saying. And you like Netz are evidently too thick to get that very simple point.
