Health officials in Saudi Arabia have asked pilgrims visiting its holy sites to wear masks in crowded places to stop the spread of the MERS coronavirus.
A list of requirements issued by the health ministry also tells elderly people or those with chronic diseases to postpone their pilgrimage.

MERS is an animal virus of unknown origin. Given that it has killed over half the people infected with it and it has shown limited human to human transmission, it is a bit worrisome.
I don’t expect that we will experience a situation like that seen in the movie, “Contagion.”
Some coronaviruses are highly contagious. Many of them cause the common cold. If MERS develops that ability to easily infect people, then we have real cause to worry. Until then, the wait, observe, and containment of existing cases approach is appropriate.

Don’t worry these are the genuises who defecate in the aisles of the planes on the way to the Haj. They couldn’t spell coronavirus much less understand it.
