NEW YORK (Reuters) - After his acquittal on murder charges for fatally shooting Trayvon Martin, George Zimmerman may go to law school to help people wrongly accused of crimes like himself, close friends told Reuters on Sunday.
The 29-year old was found not guilty late Saturday for shooting the unarmed black teenager in a case that sparked a national debate on race and gun laws. One of his first calls was to defense witness John Donnelly and his wife Leanne Benjamin.
They got to know Zimmerman in 2004 when he and a black friend opened up an insurance office in a Florida building where Benjamin worked. They grew close and the couple spent time with him during the trial.
Over dinner with Zimmerman recently, Benjamin said he told them he would like to go to law school.
"I'd like to help other people like me," she quoted him as telling them..........

Good for him. I hope he does well.
I’m glad to hear he has some aspirations......he must be pretty broken.
His safety is the #1 factor..I dont know how he will be able to go to any college without some dirt bag trying to kill him. I wish him all the best he has been through hell and back
In a safe gun-free school zone a bigger meaner person could beat GZ to death.
More power to him! I pray for his success and safety in whatever he chooses to do with his life.
I gained a lot of respect for the young man, the more I learned about him.
“I dont know how he will be able to go to any college without some dirt bag trying to kill him.”
Or some dirtbag leftist professor (is there any other kind?;) trying from Day One to FAIL him!
God bless him.
I’m going to try to remember to keep him and his family in my prayers.
Most of the comments at this website are pro-Zimmerman!
A great education and no leftist brainwashing.
He certainly seems to care about people. I wish him well.
i am not certain but i think he does not yet have an undergraduate degree. for safety perhaps he could go to an online university.
George, take your cash and enjoy yourself. This system isn’t going to last long. You can’t fix what is permanently broken.
He’s a credit shy of an associates, according to this article. I agree with you, the more he can do online the better.
Who is lower than a lawyer?
LOL, had to thimk about that one. I’d put jihadists and IRS employees below lawyers.
If you have liberal members of the bar review your application for admission to the bar, good luck in finding someone who does not view your application with glance askance, view askew, and with a jaundiced eye. Pick your jurisdiction wisely, my man.
Good for George Zimmerman.
No doubt he has been studying law for over a year already.
Perhaps NBC will provide financial aid for his education, along with a 5000 square foot house on a lake, an F 250 and a Lexus in the garage, a home theater system, ...
Don’t be distracted. The Federal government is going to use sleight of hand, to keep our attention focussed on riots and demonstrations like the ones in Oakland, San Francisco and elsewhere, to try and give Boehner and Cantor breathing room to force amnesty for illegal aliens down our throats. DON’T LET THEM DO THIS!!
Good grief, you’ve posted this to over 30 different threads!
I’ve posted this to every thread that mentions Zimmerman in the heading that was posted since before noon today. It is that important.
The message is fine, but it’s thread spamming. You should have more faith in your fellow freepers. We’re not naive, we know they’re up to.
should read: we know what they’re up to.
He could go to Ave Maria in Naples, assuming he does not want to move from Florida. It’s a conservative law school located near a wealthy retirement community.
I think the same could be said of every message posted on every thread, and in fact could be said of every thread. Let’s just shut ‘er down. FReepers are not naive and know what’s going on.
I don’t agree. I think that is is easy for people to fall into torpor or immobilizing anxiety, and in fact I believe that our government is counting on this to occur. You and I and all of us have a responsibility to do what we can to ensure that this will not happen. Once the illegals get legal status our country is forever changed. If it annoys you to see this message over and over, well we must not grow weary.
Furthermore, and more substantively, consider how many threads have been posted about Zimmerman today, and how many about Boehner and Cantor’s effort to force legal status for illegals. If we all were aware of what they are up to and what needs to be done, this ratio would be reversed.
No, you go right ahead. What you’re doing is harmless and you may snag a one dimensional thinker, who knows.
A genius this guy is NOT
Lawyers are degenerate evil bastards with a license to steal
He best take his settlement money and move to the whitest place on earth if he wants to live a normal life
