Whistleblower Edward Snowden has applied for political asylum in Russia, a human rights lawyer revealed. As his application for asylum is considered, Snowden may be given special permission to enter the country and move around [within the country] freely.
"Snowden has handed over his application to Sheremetyevos Federal Migration Service staff, Russian human rights lawyer Anatoly Kucherena revealed.
I told him about all the intricacies of the procedure. It was decided that a staff member from the FMS office will come to the airport to accept Snowdens temporary asylum request, as he is not allowed to leave Sheremetyevos transit zone, the lawyer said.
Temporary asylum is sort of humanitarian status or postponed deportation. To receive such asylum in the Russian Federation, the applicant should request it at the Federal Migration Service (FMC) by filling out the relevant form, the service explains on its website.
The initial application review period may take up to five days, and the rest of the process can be pro-longed to three months.
In the event that it is approved, the applicant has a right to stay in the country for 12 months and can then extend this term for another year.

Uh ... No sale on that garbage. Anyone that prefers russia to the US or Putin to Obama is a traitor.
