Finally fix the system?
Tried that in 86............
You can't even enforce the laws currently on the books........
“No immigration” sounds good to me.

Republicans should say “Oh well, we tried and Obama rejected the effort so we are moving on the border security.

But they already have a path to their citizenship. Typically that path is in a southerly direction.

There’s already a path. Go home. Apply for citizenship.

I’m cool with just enforcing the laws we already have.

While we may allow these people to stay here legally, we do not owe them citizenship. Indeed, we would be making a GRAVE MISTAKE to allow them the right to vote.
I like it when the big jerk paints himself into a corner.

leave the status of 11 million people or so unresolved
Their status is resolved; they would be allowed to stay by the grace of the American people but will not be granted the privilege of citizenship.
The government did an amnesty in 1986 and promised to fix the border security. They failed to follow up on that commitment. Only a fool would allow the wankers another bite at the apple. Just shred the damn immigration bill(s). There is no intent to ever follow up on security.

What would he know about U.S. citizenship?
And the answer to everything obama pushes should be the same:
Where does a scandal ridden president who can’t even tell us where he was during benghazi, who sends the IRS after his political enemies, who spies on the press, who has the worst deficit, economic, and umemployment record in history get off demanding ANYTHING of ANYBODY?

See related thread which makes the argument that the House bill, if any, should not legalize anybody, not even a legailization-without-citizenship. If the House does not pass any immigration bill at all that is even better IMO. However, the GOP seems determined to pass something.

(Fool me once, shame on you -- twice, shame on me -- 100 times, it's U. S. immigration policy.)
It is all about 30 million undocumented RAT voters - everything else is just a distraction. ENFORCE THE LAWS ON THE BOOKS AND THEN WE CAN TALK ABOUT WHAT TO DO WITH THE LAW BREAKERS.
NO NEW LAWS NEEDED. BUT you can rest assured the stupid party will commit suicide over this because the Won has called upon his propaganda machine to whip up support for handing out citizenship to law breakers.
