[According to Politifact], Obama said that the sequester and the defense cuts that would result from it was not his proposition. It is something that Congress has proposed, he said in the debate. But it was Obamas negotiating team that came up with the idea for defense cuts in 2011...

The Obama Administration is misleading Congress and the American people when it asserts that it plans to maintain a strong national defense. On February 13, 2012, President Barack Obama unveiled his fiscal year (FY) 2013 defense budget request. The request comes on the heels of the January 5, 2012, release of a new strategic guidance outlining the nations defense policy. The numbers in the budget submission reveal that the nations defense is the Administrations lowest budget priority among the major responsibilities of the federal government. Debbie is just putting on a show. She could care less about the Florida National Guard.
Besides, they only get federal money if they’re on Title 10 orders or on full-time orders under Title 32. 1000 is a whole lotta AGRs and ARTs.
